  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No, you, unilaterally, would not be allowed to do that. We The People can do that.

I don't know if it's enhanced our National Security, but Trump has enhanced China's access to more advanced chips.

Well, at least we're getting our $25%.

China’s trade surplus tops $1 trillion as its exports surge

But as trade with the U.S. weakens, China is diversifying its export markets throughout Southeast Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America.

[China's surplus for the first 11 months of 2025 is already larger than all of 2024 and a new record, topping $1T for the first time.]

Right, as I indicated at the outset, if the US picks a fight with the world, the world doesn't have to fight with each other -- they can band together and do EVEN MOAR trade.
I thought that we wanted to have less trade with China? We are 10% of their trade, very valuable for the stealing of technology and intellectual property.

Surely, we didn't think that China would allow its economy to fail because we want to have less trade with them. China will succeed by replacing trade with the US with trade elsewhere.

That being said, there will be limited trade between us and China. The countries will negotiate products and terms. I expect that all products will be greatly limited other than technology, rare earths and agriculture.

The Supreme Court is NOT making US tariffs illegal, just the method that Trump has chosen on SOME of his tariffs, primarily the accross the board tariffs and those based on the national "emergency" of trade tariffs with individual countries.

He can keep his tariffs based on national security (including drug trafficking). Tariffs on specific products are not affected.

In any case, tariffs can always be passed by Congress, now or in next year's big, beautiful reconciliation bill.

For 1st time since trade war, Canada exported more than it imported

The Canadian economy achieved a trade surplus for the first time since the U.S. trade war began, as exports rebounded and imports fell in September, according to Statistics Canada.

The agency adds that export to countries other than the United States rose sharply by 11 per cent in the same month — and that while exports to the U.S. increased, imports from there dropped

“It seems to suggest that the trade flow with the United States is beginning to stabilize,” [trade economist] said, adding that the trend of diversification from the U.S. is also continuing.

From Statistics Canada:

Exports to the United States increase

Exports to the United States were up 4.6% in September, partly due to higher exports of aircraft, light trucks and unwrought gold. Meanwhile, imports from the United States declined 1.7% in September, a third consecutive monthly decrease. Canada's trade surplus with the United States widened from $6.0 billion in August to $8.6 billion in September, the largest surplus since February 2025.
More exports to the US.
Less imports from the US.
Widening trade surplus.
Wasn't this suppose to go the other way around under Trump?

So then giving 1.5 million service members $1,776 each comes out to 266 Billion. How does 200B cover that?
