  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If Jesus meant that way, his reply to their question in Acts 1:6 would have been

"Why do you ask such a stupid question about the kingdom being restored to Israel, when I already told you it will be given to "people outside the OT religion without the need for physical circumcision, animal sacrifice, levites, stoning to death, temple etc"

Do you understand my point?
Look at my post on restoring the kingdom to Israel it was spiritual, and happened on Pentecost. After Jesus raised from the dead he said preach the gospel to the whole world which they did eventually in Acts when a non Israelite gets the holy spirit then the Judean Christians accept the gospel is for everyone.

No, Ezekiel 38-39 has not happened yet. The proof is in Ezekiel 39:11, there will be a mass grave site in Israel named the valley of Hamongog.

No such site exists in Israel.

Ezekiel 38:8, Ezekiel 38:16, Gog/Magog to happen in the latter days, latter years.

Do you notice the order stated in Luke and Acts? Begin at Jerusalem, then Judea/Samaria, then the whole world.

The 12 + James never left Jerusalem in their lifetime, because the nation of Israel never accepted Christ as their Messiah. Cornelius was a one off incident and he was saved under the same program that Israel had.

yeh. on pentecost 3000 converted and would of gone back to all those countries listed, and started churches and yes paul was unkown to judean churches it said somewhere so for years it was only Judean christians but eventually by pauls time gentiles start converting and colossians 1 23 says the gospel has been preached to the whole world and that was 62 ad so by then tons of greco romans had become christians.

To clarify, when you say the kingdom to Israel was spiritual,

was it always spiritual at the beginning of Jesus's ministry in Matthew 4:17,

or was it originally physical but changed to spiritual at Matthew 21:43?

Pentecost the holy spirit comes, and the believers body becomes the temple of the holy spirit rather than a physical temple.
in the OT it was physical temple wars gold silver land politics etc. Jesus kingdom is not of this world like the OT one was.

I never once said it mentions the word gog or magog.
The book of Ester does not have either "latter days" or "latter years" of Ezekiel 38:8 and Ezekiel 38:16 in it either.

The 12 + James never left Jerusalem in their lifetime, because the nation of Israel never accepted Christ as their Messiah. Cornelius was a one off incident and he was saved under the same program that Israel had.
What theological importance are you concluding from this?
Also - I'm not sure Cornelius was 'saved' under the same program that Israel had - because that program was no longer valid. Jesus said if Israel did not worship him, God could make the very stones cry out! Cornelius was not a Jew, which is the very reason Peter had the dream about the unclean animals and salvation coming to the non-Jews.

Also, I'm not even sure if your claim about the Apostles staying in Jerusalem is technically true - let alone any conclusions you might attach to that statement.

PETER and JOHN: Acts 8:14 Peter and John sent to Samaria

Acts 9:32–43, Peter goes to Lydda, then Joppa, then in 10:23 Caesarea / Cornelius.

PHILIP (the evangelist) - Acts 8:5 Samaria, 8:40 then Caesarea.

PAUL (Saul) - everywhere across the Greek speaking world then Rome.

Let alone all the other church leaders that Acts shows were sent out to the nations for other purposes.

The theology of the New Testament is clear: God's plan for Israel was fulfilled in Jesus living as the perfect Israelite, dying in our place, and bringing in the kingdom of God via the church in this weird age we live in of "now but not yet" kingdom living.

That National Israel never accepted Christ (Romans 11:11), so by the order of the Great Commission spelt in Luke, they could not leave Jerusalem until that happen.

Peter did not preach that Christ died for his sins and all he needed to do is to believe in his resurrection and he will be saved. Peter only knew the gospel of the kingdom, which is the gospel of the circumcision, as given by Acts 8:35 "work righteousness".

Also, I'm not even sure if your claim about the Apostles staying in Jerusalem is technically true

Do you recall Acts 8:1, last 3 words? I didn't said Apostles, I said the 12 + James, which will exclude Paul.

To think Isaiah wrote about past events in Chapter 49, or any other scripture is wrong. He was a Prophet not a historian.
And prophets are men/women of God who proclaim God's word for the situation they are in at that moment. They are not divine fortune tellers. They look at what is happening and say, e.g, "don't make an alliance with this country; they will destroy you" or "repent or you will perish."
Some of their prophecies also had/have a future application - unbeknown to the prophets, they were prophesying about Jesus. And it was Jesus himself/the Apostles who had been taught be Jesus who told us when various prophecies were being fulfilled. The words, "this is to fulfil what the prophet said ........" or, "as it was spoken/is written ........".

Nowhere did Jesus say, "read the words of Isaiah/Zechariah/Daniel and work out what they could apply to and how they could be fulfilled in the future."
So, again, what gives you the authority to do this?
