  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm not struggling with aging, more just shocked by my different views. Like, looking at younger generations and their new made up word choices just makes me wonder if our generation looked that dumb to older generations.

Younger generations seem to have shorter attention spans, read less (other than 1-min articles), less patience, and less depth in knowledge. But it's also true older generation always complain about the younger ones ... and think everything was better in the past :)

I'm not a millennial but love the insights/life-lessons age brings while enduring the discipline that comes from past foolishness.

Most people seem to forever prefer the music style of their teenage years - I'm different in that I enjoy good music ranging from Classical to modern-day (Christian) Rap even.

So true, every older generation complains about the younger but also true that the younger generations today have been screwed up by tech that we're only now realizing the effects of what we did (social media, etc).

What generation are you from?

My music style has changed drastically. As a teen, I liked rock, Pop, and ska but now, I prefer modern classical, Christian rock, and even some Christian rap as long as it isn't mumble rap.

Indeed, I'm from 1970 in Europe - and grew up without television, telephone or internet. So brought up with Classical music mainly (and church organ music :) ) but then learned to appreciate any style of music. I like gripping melodies or irresistible rhythms, listen to English, Dutch, Hebrew and even Arabic (Christian songs) .. I studied/work in IT (developing AI applications now) - it's quite a contrast with my childhood.

Church-wise I've seen (Dutch) Reformed churches (Calvinism), Baptist churches, Brethern churches, Anglican churches, Evangelical/Pentecostal, Messianic felllowships, Roman Catholic churches, ethnic churches. Church boundaries don't matter to me anymore although I do have my preferences of course. Understanding what I believe and why churches believe what they teach, studying the Bible, its history and Church/theology history is one of my passions. Yet knowing God and His Son Yeshua from the heart is infinitely more important than knowing about God and all those dry facts. It's my journey in life.
