  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Mamdani Model: More Socialist Mayors to ComeBeware! The DSA will attempt to repeat Mamdani’s success in other Democrat strongholds.

Evidently you reserve the right to yourself to determine what "American culture' is so you are going to have to deal with more people who haven't "assimilated" than just Muslims--including many of us native born citizens.
It's never going to not be a problem. I promise. Until the end of time.

Well, good luck. The rest of us will just go about our business without assimilating.

Okay. Then stay ostracized. We want *true* unity, and you won't let us have it.

Folks want true unity because they can't accept differences. IT's too scary and unpredictable.

This is an ethos that informs so many other thoughts and opinions you have.

There's no strength in uniformity. And frankly, I think it's a special kind of insanity to expect the most absurdly "freedom loving" country to suddenly unite as one borg-like entity of sameness.

How about instead of bemoaning the left, you make yourself a party worthy of uniting with.
The above is a special kind of insanity.

You can never have strength in diversity, without at least a foundation of shared goals. We've had periods of that in the past 249 years, and we've had the opposite of that too over the past 249 years. On and off.

Why? Why do we drift to and away so much? How can we stabilize this is the future?

Shouldn't christians be amazed by the thought of muslims immigrating to their vicinity? Think of all the missionary opportunities within walking distance. (That's a european measurement that denotes something aproximately a mile or less away. I know you guys don't do "walking".)

Who's "we?" I don't care if you ostracize me--I would take it as a testimonial to my patriotism.

So, who's your "us" first? Or is it that only you can have an "us" and I can't?

I wouldn't argue that.

Says the white guy? This is the kind of attitude that DEI training helps to inform better.

A lot of people on the left have a working theory. Tell me what you think.

The rich 1% encourage cultural warfare and other distrations to keep the rest of us from realizing just how much they are taking from us all.

Fine then. The "we" is referring to people who want more cultural unity, with Thomas Jefferson being the original source of that sentiment.

Considering 98 democrats could not condemn the horrors of socialism, socialism is now proven to be democrat mainstream.

The Dems shouldn't have voted for the bill as is written. Socialism, is not evil. People are evil. It's how people implement Socialism which causes failures.

The US has always had a mixture of socialism and capitalism. You can't condemn Socialism in all its forms without condemning the US and most all democratic countries.

The issue is, who defines that culture?

It's really not that complicated. All we need to do is melt together, and we'll be there. One language that everyone should strive for, and one national identity, with respect for our national history, regardless of color, creed or whatever.

Those who disagree should be ostracized. And it's not because I'm mean, it's because I'm nice, and I want peace, joy and happiness for everyone.

When you start tearing down statues of historical people, protesting against our friends, and stirring the pot - you're in the wrong, because you're causing trouble within the hive... Just don't do that!

That's just arguing over what our national history and national identity actually are. Maybe instead of tearing down statues of old Marse Bob we should tear down Hillsdale College.

When you start tearing down statues of historical people,
Ding. Okay. Problem #1. Quite a few of those historic people actively made many American's lives worse.

protesting against our friends,
Who are mistreating other people.

and stirring the pot - you're in the wrong, because you're causing trouble within the hive... Just don't do that!
If one of my children decides to poop somewhere in my house and I get angry and yell at him. As a neighbour I can understand why you'd yell at me.

But if you didn' acknowledge that my son took a dump and shoved it into my new shoes then you're not addressing the problem that is causing consternation within the house. You ONLY see my reaction as the problem.

That is what you described here.

What about it?
So the US government bought 10% of Intel. The very definition of socialism is government ownership. Seems Trump and the GOP are moving in that direction. Here is a list of current deals with other companies. Investments
All paid for with borrowed money I might add, during a time of valuation when the stock market is quite expensive on the basis of earnings or sales.

Slick? I hardly think so. There are too many capitalists in love with power and money.
The idea that any socialist can fundamentally change the American economic framework is simply impossible. This country is built on capitalism, and its laws, culture, and massive financial markets are designed to protect private property and individual profit above all else. Any attempt to replace this system with socialist ideals is a non-starter and will inevitably fail, as the power of capital and the deep-seated protection of private ownership cannot be overcome.
You are absolutely right. The one exception i would make though is of large companies basically control the government. That is not socialism though. It is Corporatocracy.
