  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

yep there he is

You realize you're actually kind of proving his point for him right? (about the toxic purification process)
(I've heard people on the left souring on Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian recently too)

Any particular reason you think he's a joke?

He's dedicated the last 20+ years to doing solid journalism and writing that came from a progressive perspective, and was highly praised by the left, but then a lot of them turned on him because of how he responded to the Charlie Kirk shooting.

Basically, because Ezra opted to not stick the boot in while the body was still warm, people on the left turned on him.

They turned on Glen Greenwald (for holding a contrary viewpoint on Ukraine) as well.

However, if you have a different reason why Ezra no longer passes progressive muster, I'm all ears.

The fact that any of those guys would be considered "persona non grata" within the Democratic movements baffles me.

L. Ron Hubbard missed his calling!
Especially now that talks of UAPs have gotten more prevalent recently.

He could've dovetailed that into his existing books.

This is what you think. It isn't about "purification".

Are they still around? I haven't heard from them in years.

Every time I read some comment from him it is some bad take. No particular item, jut a cumulative impact on my memory. I can't say I've ever read any of his stuff and apparently he has a podcast I've never heard.d

and I only heard of him in the last few years. Writes for some rag.
but then a lot of them turned on him because of how he responded to the Charlie Kirk shooting.

I saw this claim, so I googled it. I understand why though. Klein's column completely didn't understand who Kirk was and praised him for having "debates" with students.

Basically, because Ezra opted to not stick the boot in while the body was still warm, people on the left turned on him.
The best time to criticize awful people is when the are alive. When they are newly dead is the second best time. Unlike a lot of people I hang with, I am not obsessed with Dick Cheney, so I didn't go after him this week. I just didn't care. Kirk was an awful person. He didn't deserve to die, but he didn't deserve praise either.
They turned on Glen Greenwald (for holding a contrary viewpoint on Ukraine) as well.
First time I ever heard of GG he was messing up his reporter's opsec so badly he helped some naive young woman 5 years in the clink for leaking secrets. Then there is his involvement in the Snowdon/Assange operation.
However, if you have a different reason why Ezra no longer passes progressive muster, I'm all ears.

The fact that any of those guys would be considered "persona non grata" within the Democratic movements baffles me.
I just think he is a joke with bad takes.
