Trump even let Mamdani answer a question about whether the mayor-elect thought the president was a "fascist".

Incredible that I have to explain it but yes they are not synonymous. One is a subset of the other. It's like how all golden retrievers are dogs but not all dogs are golden retrievers.

Yes, we are lower than a septic tank. And he is only a reflection of the society that lifted him BACK into office.

As I watch the Ken Burns Revolution documentary, I am saddened that such violence and inhumanity is also fundamental to our national story.

It seemed though that Presidents at least tried to present an appearance of dignity. Even Nixon in his public persona.

It just seems that with Trump there is no longer a standard for even the appearance of dignity and the religious Right still approves.

So how do we reconcile this with the values we would like our children and grandchildren to grow in? How much more now must we show by example the adult behavior consistent with those values. Every word and every deed must give witness to virtue. We must think kindly before we speak and post to provide counter example.
