  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've been struggling with this for many years despite so many prayers, reading the Bible, etc. It's a horrible, sexualized community with no substance. I try to keep to myself and not bother anyone, yet people in the homosexual world keep coming into my life causing turmoil. Please pray for me.

God didn't make you gay, life in a sinful world created the cocktail of early developmental factors that inclined you towards homosexuality and the accumulation of your choices solidified that inclination. Sexuality isn't as rigid as homosexual activists claim it to be, so there is hope that through making the right choices and continued prayer you can be set free of the trap.

Well said, bro. It is remarkable to me how modern representatives of Romans 1 have taken over the seat of authority.

They are actually teaching pubescent (and even prepubescent) teens that the feelings they get that seem occasionally at odds with their plumbing indicates that their plumbing is at fault. Not so! Wayward urges of hormones are not indicative of anything but wayward urges of hormones.

The body is constantly being trained, but the older one gets, the more difficult it is to change habits of thinking and behavior. But the Grace of God is amazing.

For what it is worth, @Creativeguy , pursuing Christ ("come unto me and learn of me") can be simultaneously the most joyful and miserable thing! He will never forsake you. But you will learn of his incomprehensible grace in the face of the depravity of "the flesh". And re-learn again and again that what Jesus said is not hyperbole: "Apart from me you can do nothing". He is not a mere co-pilot but the very reason for your existence and the means by which your existence continues. Your life belongs to him, and not yourself.

Pray for relief. Pray without ceasing.

Praying for a breakthrough in your life on this. That you can be free from those that try to tempt you and even consider a change in location if needed. May God be with you.

There is one thing worth considering: You call yourself a homosexual. According to Scripture, in (at least) two places, it says that homosexuals will not be included in Heaven. I don't call you a homosexual. Homosexual is what somebody DOES, not what they currently feel. It is what they INTEND, which is an abomination to the Lord.

An alcoholic calls himself that to admit to himself that he has a problem that needs dealt with. That is not the same thing as calling himself drunk. Don't call yourself a homosexual. Call yourself one of Christ's own, and focus on getting to know Christ. The inclination to homosexuality is not the sin—homosexual activity is, feeding that inclination is, the affectation is.

God is a chain breaker and that means no matter what sin you are struggling with, God can break it. If you're still struggling, get closer to Christ. That is the absolute only way to stop this. Don't just read the bible, dig, pray, wrestle, ask God for guidance, follow his instruction, learn from him and never give up. Grab onto him like you're Peter learning to walk on water where your focus is on nothing but Christ. Wrestling against the flesh also ties into your mind. Jesus gave the example that even looking at a woman with lust = adultery. With that in mind, spend time in active mental rejection. Self control is a fruit of the spirit and Paul and James both say to actively crucify the flesh and take control. If you allow your mind to think things it shouldn't, it only makes controlling your body even harder.

Also, your environment is playing a part. I suggest you change your environment. Alcoholics won't be friends with other people who are alcoholics because the temptation is too difficult. Surround yourself with like-minded people in your life and get rid of the people that are making this more difficult for you. Paul warned that bad company corrupts good morals. A supporting environment is also going to do you the world of good.

Essentially, eat, sleep, pray Jesus 24 hours a day. Your labor for Christ will never be in vain.

Praying for you my friend. May God continue to give you strength

1 Pet 4:1 Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. 3 For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties and abominable idolatries. 4 In all this, they are surprised that you do not run with them into the same excesses of dissipation, and they malign you;

1 Pet 4:12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; 13 but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing
