Health insurance of any sort has been expensive since long before the ACA. It was expensive before we got RomneyCare in MA. Do you guys not remember that? I knew self-employed people paying $2-3k/mo for family plans in the early 2000's.

I don't have that data, but you'd need it in order to make your argument.

Regardless what you believe , the fact remains the same, the ACA philosophy is based on Newt Gingrich's 1993 healthcare plan, which served as an alternative to First Lady Clinton’s initiative. The ACA also includes elements from Mitt Romney’s Massachusetts health care plan.

It is possible that the issue stems from relying on simplistic comparisons, such as using misleading analogies to evaluate the U.S. health care system. A more effective approach would be to review the Heritage Foundation's health care plan from the early 1990s and Newt Gingrich's proposal from 1993, then compare these with the Affordable Care Act.

Actually, in the early 2000s, I had full health coverage with nothing more than a $4 co-pay. That's right. I paid NOTHING in premiums. My employer covered 100% of the cost.

ER visit? $4. Annual checkup? $4. Prescription? $4. Broken foot? $4.

Ah, those were the days...

Ah, those were the days...

My wife had an even more generous plan 10 years later than that - as of 2014, she paid nothing, ever. My current plan is pretty generous, at least for me (i.e. it's less generous when I add the wife and kid). My premiums are $0 and the deductibles and copays, while not $4, are still very reasonable.

But none of that matters, because neither of us have any insight into what our employers paid then (or pay now) for our premiums.

Yes. That is the way the GOP rolls. Obama for example was trying to get prison reform passed and could not get GOP support. Once Trump came into office, they supported it and passed it.

But the ACA is pretty much the same Heritage/Romney care. And no, it has increased healthcare coverage for Americans. It has increased every year now that a lot of those GOP states that refused to be a part of it initially, are now adopting it.
