  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi! Some think the Decalogue is separate from all the other laws, but James is a good example that everything in the Pentateuch is Law: Jas 2:10 "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."
Besides it must be realized that the Law was not only given solely to the nation of Israel, but that the entirety of it, including the Decalogue was "taken away" with the OT, when Christ said "it is finished." "Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second" (Heb 10:9).

The whole law James is speaking about is the Ten Commandments. You can see this by the very next verse, James only quotes and contrasts the Ten Commandments

James 2:10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. 11 For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law

The Ten Commandments is the whole law- its is a separate document, written in stone, not by man, but by our divine Heavenly Father. He said it is His Testimony Exo31:18 and it didn’t include anything else. The Scriptures are clear on this

Deu 4:13 So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.

Deu 5:22 "These words the LORD spoke to all your assembly, in the mountain from the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, with a loud voice; and He added no more. And He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.

We see this distinction in several places here is another example

2 Chro 33:8 and I will not again remove the foot of Israel from the land which I have appointed for your fathers—only if they are careful to do all that I (God)have commanded them, according to the whole law and (in addition)the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.”

The Ten Commandments is God’s commandments, He owns them, they have His name in each of the commandments on how we are to love God, not Moses. They started before Moses Exo20:11. They are under God’s mercy seat, Exo25:21 Rev 15:5 Rev11:19 the only Law that is, the law of Moses was written by Moses on paper (as it fades) with ink, set besides the ark of the covenant as a witness against Deut 31:24-26 and is a totally separate law. It of course included the Ten Commandments, because all of God’s faithful keep God’s commandments Rev 14:12 not to be saved, its a result of salvation and what reconciles us back to God. Rev22:14

Jer 31:31-33; 32:40 Eze 36:24-27. These are prophecies that are yet to be fulfilled. It will involve only Israelites. I don't expect others to accept this as truth, but it's what I presently believe.
Israel was never just literal. Jesus called Israel His son, if it was literal it would mean “Adam”.

Exo 4:22 Then you shall say to Pharaoh, 'Thus says the LORD: "Israel is My son, My firstborn.
Hos 11:1 "When Israel was a child, I loved him, And out of Egypt I called My son.

Israel represents God’s people throughout all the ages. We too are part of God’s Israel and heirs to the promises grafted in by faith Gal3:26-29

Jer 31:31-33 is referring to Heb8:10 the New Covenant which we are in by faith and accept the Covenant promise of Gods Laws written in our hearts and minds- think of it like a wedding vow/covenant. God’s Laws went from tablets of stone (Ten Commandments) to tablets of the heart 2Cor3:3 Heb8:10 no longer are His commandments externally, they are written internally by God and we can keep them based on the better promises of the NC Heb8:6 through our love and the power of the Holy Spirit, if we cooperate with Him John14:15-18

That's not scriptural at all. John 3:16, John 3:36, John 6:29, 1 John 3:23. Be careful to add anything into your beliefs that aren't bible backed. You're altering salvation. Telling anyone that they'll be saved even if they disregard Jesus, isn't going to save them.

Also, search scripture to make sure people are correct in their stance of scripture. Quoting Albert Barnes, John Gill or literally anyone for that matter doesn't make them correct.

Albert Barns - Technically he's right but it's not just "worship" they broke the agreement they signed up for. They worshiped other gods and set up idols. An example of worship is prayer. How they prayed wasn't necessarily wrong, just who they prayed to. So it's not a 100% correct statement.

John Gill - There's instances in the bible of gentile nations following Jewish tradition. Jonah is a great example of that. What did the gentile nation do when they were given the warning? They repented. But not just repented... they clothed themselves in sackcloth and fasted which is a Jewish ordinance. So she's wrong in saying the gentile nations were "ignorant". God chose the Jews to teach the world about his ways and when they continually failed, God changed it to the gentiles to make them "jealous". I don't think she understands how salvation flowed from OT to NT.

The kitty is gorgeous. I can't wait for the day when Jesus takes away the curse and lions and lambs will lay together. I love animals especially cats can't wait to hug Jesus and a few lions and bears. :)

You have to accept Jesus, there is no way around it. The new covenant was already established with Jesus as the Jews who were saved by Jesus, accepted him. All of Israel will be eventually saved, that means all of Israel will accept Jesus but if you disregard him, then you will not be saved, even if you are Jewish.
I hope you don't mind me removing the accusations, they are unnecessary during discussions. What you are saying has and is what some Jews are and are becoming, same as many Gentiles are becoming--Christians.

Those prophecies describe a time (during the millennium) when Jews that love and obey God receive their final and New Covenant, which will still be law, but new law. Christianity has no law (Jer 31:33), statutes and judgments (Eze 36:27).

This new covenant is "with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah" only (Jer 31:31). There's nothing in these these prophecies that has to do with Christianity. I think the most significant difference with this new covenant will be that God will "cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them" (Eze 36:27). With the OT God did not cause them to "please" Him, as He does now in Christianity by His Spirit and Son (Phl 2:13).

Christianity IS Judaism in root with God being revealed in bodily form as Christ. It's not something completely new. This is why in Acts 15, there were discussions about what rules were religious vs what rules were ethnic and what the gentiles should follow after Christ. They all agreed that gentiles should not eat anything offered to idols, abstain from blood, from things strangled (essentially Kosher meat or Certified Humane) and sexual immorality (spiritual). So how is that Jews becoming "Christian" (which literally just means Christ follower) and not the other way around? Israel will rule the world when Christ returns.

Jesus didn't abolish his commands/statutes, he grafted us into what he already started with the Jews. They are HIS rules, HIS feasts, HIS statues. Essentially, we are supposed to be more "Jewish" and not the other way around. The only thing the Jews need to do is accept Jesus as God and acknowledge they have no need for ceremonial laws anymore and that's it for them. Everything else is the same. Even during the Millennial reign you have a rule for any nation that doesn't celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles, they get no rain as a punishment (Zechariah 14:16-19). How is that "Christian"??

On that day holy to the Lord will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, and the cooking pots in the Lord’s house will be like the sacred bowls in front of the altar. Every pot in Jerusalem and Judah will be holy to the Lord Almighty, and all who come to sacrifice will take some of the pots and cook in them. And on that day there will no longer be a Canaanite in the house of the Lord Almighty. - Zechariah 14:20-21
Sacrifices during the Millennial Reign! Definitely not "Christian".

We are apart of HIS family, not the other way around.
