Hi! Some think the Decalogue is separate from all the other laws, but James is a good example that everything in the Pentateuch is Law: Jas 2:10 "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."
Besides it must be realized that the Law was not only given solely to the nation of Israel, but that the entirety of it, including the Decalogue was "taken away" with the OT, when Christ said "it is finished." "Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second" (Heb 10:9).
The whole law James is speaking about is the Ten Commandments. You can see this by the very next verse, James only quotes and contrasts the Ten Commandments
James 2:10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. 11 For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law
The Ten Commandments is the whole law- its is a separate document, written in stone, not by man, but by our divine Heavenly Father. He said it is His Testimony Exo31:18 and it didn’t include anything else. The Scriptures are clear on this
Deu 4:13 So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.
Deu 5:22 "These words the LORD spoke to all your assembly, in the mountain from the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, with a loud voice; and He added no more. And He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.
We see this distinction in several places here is another example
2 Chro 33:8 and I will not again remove the foot of Israel from the land which I have appointed for your fathers—only if they are careful to do all that I (God)have commanded them, according to the whole law and (in addition)the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.”
The Ten Commandments is God’s commandments, He owns them, they have His name in each of the commandments on how we are to love God, not Moses. They started before Moses Exo20:11. They are under God’s mercy seat, Exo25:21 Rev 15:5 Rev11:19 the only Law that is, the law of Moses was written by Moses on paper (as it fades) with ink, set besides the ark of the covenant as a witness against Deut 31:24-26 and is a totally separate law. It of course included the Ten Commandments, because all of God’s faithful keep God’s commandments Rev 14:12 not to be saved, its a result of salvation and what reconciles us back to God. Rev22:14
