SO HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU ARE SAVED ??

So salvation to you requires faith + loving others and avoid sinning?

We need to keep believing in Jesus. Both commandments we are to keep are given in 1Joun 3:21-24. Since everyone misquotes the second I will quote both commandments as they are found in the gospel of John to let everyone read how Jesus told them to John

John 15:5 "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. NKJV

We must continue to have faith in Jesus. If we do not abide, remain, in Jesus we will be gathered and burned. That would mean we will be in hades. It takes no work to keep believing. However, in Matthew 7:26-27 we are foolish if we do not heed Jesus' warning to obey His saying.

John 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." NKJV

Above is the second commandment that Jesus gave us. Notice in verse 35 it is disciple loving disciple. This is not the OT law of loving our neighbor. To emphasize this commandment is not to love our neighbor. Jesus gave us all we needed to be saved. Let's see just who He gave us love for.

Colossians 1:3 We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, 4 since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints; 5 because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, NKJV

The moment that we had hope in Jesus to save us He gave us the 3 greatest gifts, hope, faith, and love. If we use those gifts, we get into heaven.
I am not saying that we should not love our neighbor. As it states in 1John 3:21-24 we are to do things pleasing in His sight to be assured that He will answer our prayers and to walk in the Spirit. Jesus warned us in Matthew 7:26-27 we are foolish if we do not heed Jesus' warning to obey His saying. He also told the apostles to teach us in Matthew 28:20. By being wise and obeying we ensure we are in the Spirit and strengthening our faith.

Your version of the gospel, is incoherent and unbiblical, because you're rejecting what God said and you're making Him a liar. Gods Word reveals that those who are saved, were saved by grace, you reject this and replace it with (saved by works). That's a big problem, as it robs Gd of His glory.

Here's why your "saved by works" version of the gospel is false.

Here are the works that I believe we must do to remain saved.

1 John 3:21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. 22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. 23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. 24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. NKJV

As you see I am quoting the Apostle John. If I am being unbiblical, so is John.

Hebrews 12:3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. 4 You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin. 5 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: "My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; 6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens,
And scourges every son whom He receives." 7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? 8 But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. NKJV

I am now quoting whoever wrote the epistle to the Hebrews. Pleases read verse 8. It does not say this, but illegitimate children do not have an inheritance in Heaven. Why is it that they have no inheritance? Because those who are not disciplined do so because they love the world more than they love Jesus. They do not want to give up worldly pleasures for a pass into heaven.

As you can read when Jesus gives us hope, He also gives us faith and love for the Saints. That is all we need to get into heaven. That is why all those scriptures say Jesus did it all.

Colossians 1:21 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight — 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister. NKJV

It is our job to continue in the faith by not moving away from our hope in Jesus. If we lose hope in Jesus, we no longer have saving faith.

Philippians 1:6 "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus". This verse emphasizes God's role as the initiator and sustainer of the work of salvation and transformation in a believer's life.

2 Corinthians 3:18 "And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit". This verse highlights that the transformation is an ongoing process that comes from the Lord through the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 1:4"...he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him". This verse points to God's sovereign choice as the basis for a person's holiness and spiritual newness, which is the foundation for transformation.

Romans 8:29-30 "For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son...". This passage connects God's foreknowledge with predestination, showing that the end goal of salvation is to be made like Christ.

See how all of these verses describe salvation as being initiated, sustained and finished by God. There are no works or requirements to fulfill, in order to be saved, because God works through His elect to transform them to conform to the image of his Son.

Its most interesting that both of you stated you are "Baptist", and yet do not have the same view on whether salvation is by faith alone or require works to show faith.

Grace is the life of God, the power of the Holy Spirit, in us that enables us to overcome sin now. The New Covenant was never intended as strictly a reprieve from man's obligation to be holy but, in fact, is the authentic means to accomplishing that very holiness, by virtue of reconciled union with God.. "Apart from Me you can do nothing." John 15:5 That's what we're here to learn, of our absolute need for Him.
