I think it's unavoidable. The problem is millions who poured over the border illegally from Central and South America. Therefore they're looking for Central and South Americans. Can you come up with a better alternative? Should they request proof of legal status from Anglos, Asians and African-Americans too ie literally everyone? Which of course would require an enormous increase in the number of DHS and ICE agents. Would that be better?

I do not have an answer on this matter. It appears that you believe racial profiling is acceptable.

Because people need to live in domiciles. If Landlords buy domiciles but keep them un- occupied they are reducing the ability of people to access that domicile.

Imagine every landlord refused to allow occupancy of 50% of their portfolio. What would that do in a supply and demand environment?

Being a landlord aggressively siphons money out of the economy and into the coffers of said landlord.

What impact do you suppose that has for the cost of living?

That landlord would go out of business. You'd most certainly woukd have to prove that is happening on scale big enough to actually do as you claim. As I understand it is in rent controlled districts where this is primarily happening. Why? Because it costs the landlord more money to fix up the apartment than to rent it. Because costs to fix have gone up so much that they cant readily recoup the money. This is what happens when governments interfere. The landlord is already paying taxes on the entire building. Ordering to pay more because they aren't renting out a couple is just further harming the current renters because now the landlord has to pay more money to the government that could be used to take care of the current renters.

I don't believe this is going to work. Most of the people complaining about the high cost of rent in NY aren't interested in rent controlled apartments because they are mostly in bad neighborhoods.

I'm a flat tax supporter. No IRS, no deductions. You pay a flat tax on what you earn regardless of your income.

That's not force.

I won't be continuing this discussion though because it's an irrational hatred of taxes that births that arguement; not reason.

Yes government uses force for everything. Yes we are forced to pay taxes. Try not paying and see what happens.

I'm happy to pay taxes. But I think everyone should be paying, not just half the people. And I don't want my taxes wasted.

I want a flat tax where everyone pays and there is really no IRS. No deductions no "loop holes".

The very least I expect someone to do when using AI as a "research tool" is to read the AI text, understand it and then formulate an answer with their own words. What I don't want to read is copy and pasted AI slop. If you feel the need to cite something, cite the primary source and don't cite the AI post.

I would like to ask: Is this consistent with American values? Is racial profiling acceptable in a democratic society such as America?

Strictly enforced verification of legal status to work that holds employers responsible making using illegal labor untenable. With the economic motivation removed illegal economic migrants stop coming and leave if already present.

It's good you removed those posts. In America, racial profiling isn't acceptable, although some Supreme Court justices seem to believe it's unavoidable.
