The trial of his murderer is being handled by a different judge. This case is about something else.Charley was murdered.
Nonsense, the case is about a man who didn't care at all about his murder. This case is about those which defend his murder.
That is disingenuous as well as inaccurate. How does the following condone murder or specifically Kirk's murder:Being insensitive? For being approving of MURDER...
Speech does not cause murder. Approving of such an idea can cause someone to be fired. Which is not a crime. That is disingenuous as well as inaccurate. How does the following condone murder or specifically Kirk's murder:
“He’s been one of the most divisive, especially divisive younger figures in this, who is constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech or sort of aimed at certain groups. And I always go back to, hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. And I think that is the environment we are in. You can’t stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and not expect awful actions to take place. And that’s the unfortunate environment we are in.”
Unless the employer is the government, in which case firing people for free speech is unconstitutional.Speech does not cause murder. Approving of such an idea can cause someone to be fired. Which is not a crime.
The employer is we the tax payers. We pay their salary. For the public employee, to believe it is ok to commit a crime ( especially heinous crimes like murder) because he does not like what you say or think should not be working for the public. That is an open and blatant threat. I would not want to be a co-worker, a neighbor, or be in proximity or contact with such an individual, let alone (employ) pay him.Unless the employer is the government, in which case firing people for free speech is unconstitutional.
It can incite murder.Speech does not cause murder.
Stating is not approving.Approving of such an idea can cause someone to be fired.
That depends....Which is not a crime.
It can incite a MURDERER.It can incite murder.
It is approving of murderingStating is not approving.
He said Kirks speech was the cause of his murder. The same goes for employees of "WE", the public. We pay their wages. Why on earth would anyone want to associate with someone who believes it is ok to kill someone they don't like? It is insane! That depends....
So how did Dowd condone murder? He did not. So why should he be fired for his speech?
That's right. We The People set up some rules about how We do things. The First Amendment is part of that. The employer is we the tax payers.
The first amendment indeed applies to all people. This is not about free speech. It is about employees who believe it is ok to kill people for their speech. People in employment anywhere that are ok with committing a crime against others for their speech. There are no rules we give people in public employment the ok to kill others for their speech. Nor take away our freedom of Speech to fire such people. They intimidate others they are around from free speech. That's right. We The People set up some rules about how We do things. The First Amendment is part of that.
