  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I certainly hope this does not happen. Millions of people will suddenly be without money to buy food and other necessities of life.
I am considering this a test case for how the nation will react to a no-food situation. What will people do?
I have asked this question to Christians for decades. "What would you do to save your family from starvation and death?" I recall the honest response of a lay pastor, one of my best friends. "I would do whatever it takes."
I believe him...

That may be an honest response, and may be a criminal response also, and likely is not a Godly response.
We shall see what happens. Actually, I pray we do not have to. But if it does, we will have a real-life lesson on why people, including Christians, should prepare.
In one of my books, I wrote that people are deciding today what they will do in a real food crisis. They are deciding whether to prep and be ready for what scripture and common sense tell us is coming, or will they "do whatever it takes" to save their families? They are deciding right now. Will they break into a store and steal food? Is that their "unstated" plan? Will they come to my house and try to break in and steal our preps we have spent 13 years building up? What if I say no and block the way? Will they attack me and "do whatever is necessary" to save their family?
Interesting questions people should ask and answer for themselves now. These are questions every godly man should answer now. Not then. Now!

1 Timothy 5:7-8 KJV
7 And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.
8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

Like I said. It should be interesting to see what happens in a week or so.

There’s a lot of discussion around this subject. Some productive and less honorable as @Aaron112 noted. We’ve been praying about the situation privately and taking all the players to task including the mockers. I’ve seen compassionate replies and a consensus of looking the other way if thefts occur. I’ve observed a hands off philosophy for small businesses and ire directed to larger ones. I’ve witnessed disturbing things as well. A callous attitude towards the affected or the suggestion of betterment for those who’ve felt disenfranchised in the dating sphere.

Some states are able to cover recipients with excess funds they have on hand but the majority can’t. I haven’t encountered verbal intentions to harm the innocent or admissions of burglary. Their beef is with the government and corporate monopolies. This is an unfortunate reminder about the necessity of preparedness but the window has passed. That’s not to say you can’t add extra items every month. But the season for doing so is behind us and it’s more difficult now than before.

fwiw, it is not difficult, probably, to find the online resources/ exposes/ references and information that
billions, many billions, are received by false christs, false churches, the world church (thousand times as much),
and corporations , regular profits, illicit profits, and corporate welfare....
Many many times more money etc, than is needed to feed everyone in the country for years.

I tend to agree with you. Prepping is much harder now with higher prices. In 2012, we could buy 50 pounds of rice for 17 bucks. Today, it is almost double that. After 13 years of adding bulk and freeze dried items, I feel that we can stop now. However, we still collect canned goods and need to develop a water catchment/storage system. In some ways, this has become a hobby. We have enjoyed finding good deals, learning to dehydrate, freeze-dry, and prepare items for long-term storage. We have been fortunate enough to have started early and never really spent a lot at one time. Just a few bucks a week following the sales. Our largest expense was the freeze dryer, which was about 2500 bucks. It has already paid for itself. We bought items when super sales occurred and freeze-dried the goods. Some are now closing in at 14 years old. I am now in the process of taking some of the old vacuum-packed rice and beans, cooking them, and then freeze-drying them. Like I said, it is kind of a hobby now.

I agree that feeding the poor deserves attention. And you can never go wrong feeding children and those incapable.
The only issue I can think of is that humans will be humans. I fear that these programs will create a permanent underclass of the needy. As I said, it is only human nature to depend on "entitlements." Today, generations of families have existed on government benefits. I checked, and as of 2025, 72 million Americans are receiving one sort of government assistance or another. That is about 1 in 5. They receive just enough benefits to exist in poverty for decades. One might say we are enabling this behavior. Bigger minds than mine are dealing with this issue. We also contribute to private charities to provide for the needs here and abroad. I suspect this will be an ongoing battle for years to come....

I’ve been tracking policy proposals from the Heritage Foundation included in Project 2025 and others in the pipeline. Most programs are being cut across the board and safety nets are being removed. No one is being spared. The things that are taking place with federal employees are part of the agenda. Social security recipients will face similar challenges in the future. They’re not resolving the shortage and your benefits will be reduced by 24% or 48% for a couple. That may be something you’ll need to prepare for since the insolvency date isn’t fixed.

SNAP and TANF are undergoing changes. Disability will be harder to get and keep long-term. Medicaid will have lifetime limits based on years or the amount paid out. Educational programs are being eliminated and we’re losing tax breaks in that area. FHA loans will be given to first time buyers only and PMI will be permanent. And the list goes on.
