  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As debates over science, meaning, and morality grow ever more polarized, a groundbreaking, accurate, and easy-to-read new book arriving in English invites readers to reconsider one of humanity’s most profound questions: could science itself now point us back to God?

The international bestseller God, the Science, the Evidence, an accessible yet rigorous investigation, has sold more than 400,000 copies across Europe. Now, this landmark work comes to the English-speaking world in an updated and expanded version.

The publication of God, the Science, the Evidence marks a major milestone in the renewed global interest in the scientific evidence for the existence of God. Representing years of research and reflection, it presents complex ideas in a clear and engaging style, one that has already made it a cultural phenomenon throughout Europe.

At its core, the book tackles one fundamental question: Is there a Creator God?

And it approaches that question through a single lens—rationality—by examining twelve independent fields of knowledge.

Back when darwinism became popular there wasn't the technology available that we have today. It is now known the extreme complexity there is and it is much harder to believe "it just happened" .... however there has been so many "possible explanations" invested into the evolution theory that to completely abandoned it is nearly impossible (they would look like fools)... instead more theories are put forth in an attempt to "explain" how things "could have happened"

There has and is information collected .... but .... that information comes with an interpretation .... those of us in the faith are very keen to interpretation and how it can be skewed ... it's interesting that science says the "beginning of things" is found in nature .... God says proof of His existence is found in nature. So it is nature that if the foundation of either belief .... but it's a matter of interpretation of what is found that establishes what one believes.

I see books like this as detrimental to the cause, because the question "does God exist?" is not within the purview of science. Science builds a model of reality in its mechanical aspects, the only way God comes into the conversation is if invoking Him specifies some mechanism. i know people are uncomfortable with the idea that we can't know something, but both faith and skepticism are based in ignorance and not something we can conclusively demonstrate. By treating God like a scientific theory, books like this invite skeptical criticism and give the appearance that people of faith are grasping at straws.

AI's summary of the book's contents and conclusions suggests that it's another apologetic book for the Christian faith presenting both scientific and philosophical evidence that others have been addressing for decades. I love this stuff and have been studying and promoting it for the last 25 years myself. This book may have little new insight, but it can only help to counter the evolutionary world view that dominates our culture today.

Of course God wrote the laws of science that govern our universe as Job 38:33 implies, but he also designed his creation in a manner that specifically allows us to discover it - through mathematics and observational study. How amazing and relevant is that, connecting our faith with the reality of the world around us? As many of the most brilliant minds in history have stated, science leads us closer to God, not away from him. It builds one's faith with foundational reason and understanding.

Scripture indicates that using one's mind and reason is important in the Christian life. Jesus emphasized loving God with all one's mind (Matthew 22:37). Paul encouraged believers to be transformed by the renewal of their minds (Romans 12:2) and to engage their minds to defend their faith (2 Corinthians 10:5). Faith should be based on evidence, not intellectual blindness. A faith grounded strongly in evidence not only allows a Christian to resist secular academic challenges or tragedies in life but also to influence and witness to inquiring skeptics that we encounter so often.

I'd expect the atheists to dismiss such a book since it counters their secular world view, but unfortunately the vast majority of professing Christians and Catholics will also ignore it as irrelevant or unimportant. They're comfortable with their irrational theistic evolutionary world views that counter both the strongest laws of science and the very foundational scriptures of their faith. They've rejected both God's general revelation and his revealed revelation.

So yes, I expect it's a good read that Christians should embrace. Maybe it'll influence a few skeptics towards God and steer a few misguided believers to actually accept the Bible's historicity, scientific accuracy, and ultimate authority.
