  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is President Trump Corrupt? Take a look at these three stories.

Trump says Qatari jet could be ready for use as Air Force One in 6 months.

Experts are deeply skeptical

https://www.cnn.com/2025/08/10/politics/qatar-jet-trump-air-force

Then, following that incredible story, an even more unprecedented development.

The Trump-approved Qatari base in Idaho should raise major security concerns

To sum up the first story, the Qatari jet to be used as AF1 is possibly worth $400 million, and is a personal gift to Trump. It will cost the taxpayers a billion dollars.

In the second story, Trump issues an “executive order” “Assuring the Security of the State of Qatar.” The order far exceeds Presidential power, it should require approval by the Senate as a major treaty. During the entire Israel/Hamas war, or Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip, the leaders of Hamas were living in luxury in Qatar. Trump’s order puts Qatar “on par with our NATO allies.” Then came the incredible news that Qatar will be allowed to build, or take possession of, a military base in Idaho. Huh?

The USA, and the American people get nothing out of this, but it gets worse. “Back in April, a Trump-owned company struck a deal to open a vast golf resort in Qatar.”

The third story is from the Associated Press.

Trump company strikes Qatari golf resort deal in a sign it’s not holding back from foreign business

Trump company strikes Qatari golf resort deal in a sign it's not holding back from foreign business

To sum up, the Emir of Qatar has given Donald Trump a golf resort deal and then a jumbo jet. In return, Qatar gets a security status comparable to a NATO ally and even gets a military base in Idaho. Congress needs to say NO to all of the above. It is obvious that Donald Trump has sold out America to its foreign enemies.
  • Recognition: The U.S. recognized Qatar two days after the country declared independence from Great Britain on September 3, 1971.

  • Diplomatic relations: Formal diplomatic relations were established on March 19, 1972.

  • U.S. Embassy: The American Embassy in Doha opened the following year, with the first resident U.S. Ambassador presenting credentials in August 1974.
  • Qatar hosts the U.S. Central Command Forward Headquarters and the Combined Air Operations Center at Al Udeid Air Base. The two nations have signed several defense cooperation agreements and have a robust military sales partnership.

  • Economic partnership:
The U.S. and Qatar have significant economic ties, with Qatar being a major investor in the U.S. energy sector. Qatar is one of the U.S.'s largest trading partners in the Middle East, with trade including aircraft, machinery, and liquefied natural gas.

  • Strategic cooperation:
The relationship was elevated in 2022 when Qatar was designated a Major Non-NATO Ally, a status that symbolizes a strong partnership in areas like regional peace and security.

  • The point is .... that the relationship with Qatar was established and maintained from long ago.

Despite what many liberals believe, you are correct.

How many US presidents have accepted lavish gifts from the Qataris in all that time?

Is Trump the only one?

Really?

Trump says anti-bribery laws are crippling U.S. businesses, so he's changing the rules

Thanks. I had not seen that story. Years ago, there was a story in the news that someone at the IRS had given out an advisory saying that bribes are tax deductible. I guess that means that if you have to pay a bribe to get something done, then it is a cost of doing business.

I stand by my belief that taking a bribe does not qualify as an official act, so whoever does it should face the full consequences of the law.

Sure but if I give you a car, then you spend 50K retrofitting it, is the gift anything? Yes, but only if you do not use YOUR money to fix it.

We were always going to have to fix it.

We don't just trust a plane from Qatar for goodness sake. We have to take that thing down to bare metal just looking for bugs and bombs.

The point isn't that we are going to spend some of our money on it when the world isn't looking, it's that Qatar is making overtures towards our country that are diplomatically positive.

This is called diplomacy. Smile. It's what we want; to try and have positive relationships in rocky places.

You all are globalists aren't you? Why squeamish about diplomatic relations? I'm not even a globalist but even I can handle diplomatic relations with foreign nations.

They did. Biden never used the office to take bribes or illegitimate money. Not one dollar.
Somebody has been fooled! There are bank records that contradict that.

When were these bank records proven to show bribes?
So you are ok with millions from foreign entities coming to the Biden’s while Joe was in public office. Tell us what legitimate service did he provide?

Again, where is the proof these payments were bribes or otherwise illegal. Seems Comer dropped a bunch of “evidence” and then never investigated further. Conclusion: it was never intended to go beyond suggestion that Biden was corrupt because that alone would take on a life of its own without needing any further work.

OK I will rate it optimistic though it seems opportunistic to me, that some pay to play schemes are in play between Trump and Qatar. I remember too, how Carter got quite a bit of money from the Saudi Arabia.

I was interested in what you said about voting machines. I once did a letter to the editor about voting machines. If you go into a Las Vegas casino, for every slot machine, the software has to be on file with the State of Nevada, the Gaming Commission. For Diebold voting machines, we are told that the software is proprietary, a trade secret, so the public has no right to know.

On the voting machines they were using where I live, at that time, you press a button on the machine and you can see the ballot drop into a box, but you can't actually see where the mark is on the ballot. They have changed the system since then, though.
Yes, I used hear bad things too about how the vote tabulation can be changed in the software. Hopefully they have fixed that.

The Republicans who investigated all 14,000 pages of bank records couldn't find anything illegitimate at all, which is why Biden was never impeached.

You should stop trying to felon. Biden with false accusations. He's a far better man and President than Trump the felon.

Biden is the worst, and the most incompetent, and the most corrupt president in the USA since WWII.

And the GOP couldn't find any evidence of that. What does that tell you?
The GOP found plenty of evidence. The liberal media ignored that evidence. What does that tell you?
