  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Another look at the moon landing.

But not this one.

This is the biggest lie in history & is one the top conspiracies theories known & most of the worlds population now believes that we didn't go to the moon.

The results differ by country and age of the respondent. A separate sampling of 1,533 young people from age 16 to 25 in Germany, Spain and the Netherlands found even more doubt the moon landing than does the general, older population: 35%, vs. the average 25%.

I’m not surprised. Kids these days get a good portion of their knowledge from social media and their critical thinking skills are dismal. Many have very little to no knowledge of history. It’s a pity really.

If they had some of the grape juice (wine) that were made from water, how old would they find it to be ? yet it did not exist before the slaves obeyed Jesus and filled the jugs with water.

My post was not advocating for a billion year old earth. It was just showing these astronauts do not even believe what they read from The Bible. Just like all other globe earth, going to the moon believing people.

Sorry, but how can you state with such certainty that most of the world's population now believes that we didn't go to the moon? Just take the "population" of these Forums. There seem very few who believe that the moon landings were faked. Off the top of my head, the few include you, d taylor and Kathleen30. There may be one or two others whose names I've forgotten, but I would say that by far the majority here believe that the moon landings happened.

I disagree, kids these days are more on the ball than ever before, they can work a mobile phone at five to six years old.

I'm not talking about people on here, I'm talking about the general public at large.

I know you weren't talking about the people here. I just used the forums as an example of people we both really know about, so far as views on the moon landings are concerned. You can't know the views of everybody in the world.

And yet they spend their time in Tik tok or other social media rather than learning.

I believe this one, when I hear of the earth being billions of years old I just stop reading or switch it off. Such nonsense!
Apple Id agree you on that. Once your stretching over the 10 thousand mark and into the billions of years. One can pretty well make up anything they like. It’s no longer historical reality anymore

My argument has always been, 'so when did Genesis get written' ?

Rubbish.

How many people are there on these forums? 2,000? 5,000? 8,000? That is only a fraction of a million. One million is only a fraction of the world's population.

How many people - Christians and non Christians - on these forums believe the moon landings were a hoax? I have never done a poll, and I doubt you have either.
Say we're working with a figure of 5,000 forum members - for the sake of my maths, only. You do a poll asking about the moon landings, unusually, every single member here answers and the answer is that 1,000 people think they were a hoax. (And I'm being generous; I don't think you'd even get into triple figures.)
That is still only 1/5; 20% of people here.
Even if every forum on the internet did a similar poll, got ALL their members to answer and got the same result, that's still only 1/5 of people.
That doesn't even include those who aren't online, or who are but have better things to do with their time that to answer a poll about something that happened over 50 years ago.

Put simply, you have no way of knowing that "most of the world's population" now believe that moon landings are a hoax.

What, so 35% of the 1,533 teenagers surveyed in 3 countries doubted the moon landings happened?
That means 65% of them believed that they did.

That doesn't even begin to equate to "most of the world's population" think they are a hoax.

Oh so that obviously means they can figure out that the moon landings were faked.

I hope that survey included relatives of the astronauts involved.

a) where does it say in the Bible that no one can ever get to the moon?
b) you have no grounds whatsoever for saying that people who know the earth is a globe and also accept that the moon landings happened, don't believe the Bible.

That is slander, against forum rules and unworthy of you as a follower of Christ.

What gives you the right to say a member of this forum is unworthy to be a follower of Christ ?

I don't see why, but ok, I'll simplify it.

You do not know what everyone in the whole world thinks about the moon landings, so stop talking nonsense.

:sigh:

I did not say they were unworthy TO be a follower of Christ.
I said that AS a follower of Christ, that statement was unworthy of them - ie an awful thing for one of Christ's followers to have said.

Well sorry, but if you think being able to fix a mobile phone means that they know that the moon landings were fake - you haven't got it.
