  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Speaker Johnson describes planned No Kings rally as ‘hate America,’ ‘pro-Hamas’ gathering

""The head of a national crowd-for-hire firm is warning that America’s protest culture has become a target for exploitation — by paid agitators, profit-driven interest groups and even foreign actors seeking to fuel division.""

‘No Kings’ protest could attract paid agitators and foreign influence, crowd-for-hire CEO warns

I would stay away from anything FOXnews and their links of claims that go nowhere.
Yes they COULD. I think it should be a legitimate concern for the organizers and should prepare for that possibility. The fact that the last rally went pretty well, bodes well for them this time. But they shouldn't poo poo away the fact that there are those who would latch on and be a problem. We've seen it before. I hope they are able to rally and be peaceful while doing it.

I want that from every group that does that.

That is a straw man that you are using to attack people with a belief that is not so incredibly ridiculous . The belief that we are on a slippery slope and we slowly becoming more authoritarian.
As I said, they are free to protest whatever they wish and believe whatever they wish. The fact that rhey can is evidence that its a false narrative they are fussing about.

It's a preventitive response to the consolidation of power into the executive branch of what is the established 3 equal branches of government in the this country, but that should be obvious.
Another example of a false narrative. There has been no consolidation of power in the executive. The executive is still in charge of the executive. The courts are still functioning and Congress is still the legislative branch.

The fact that some may not like what the executive branch is doing doesn't mean that its taken over the other branches functions.

This is just rerun of 2017 -2021 when the left went on and on and on about the President being a dictator, and protested over and over again.

And it wasn't true then and isn't true now. I just don't get it. Everything is running like it always has. All this complaining about authoritarianism and kings or Nazis or dictatorship etc, is just a bunch of nonsense.

Suddenly the rule of law equals authoritarianism.

??? was something I said unclear?
Hmmm... the protests are still protesting things that aren't happening, rendering them moot. And the fact that rhey are still going to be able to do them, is proof of that, so I don't know. I think I've been clear as well and whatever your claim is, is also moot.

The left has been on that kick full throttle since BLM and defund the police.

Have you seen the "domestic terrorist"?

Andrew Egger writes:

"These days, after all, accusations like “terrorist wing,” “pro-Hamas,” and “Antifa” aren’t just insults. They’re talismans—phrases that unlock, in the view of the administration, a permission structure for the deployment of state violence. The largest, most organized, peaceful protest movement of the Trump 2.0 Resistance is coming back this week—and Republicans are talking as if they’re prepared to unleash the might of their increasingly politicized federal law enforcement (and, perhaps, accompanying military?) on it.

This isn’t to say, of course, that a state crackdown on No Kings 2 is guaranteed to take place. Even Donald Trump and Stephen Miller might flinch from the headlines that would result from their militarized cops cracking heads in a peaceful crowd flying American flags. That’s no way to win a Nobel Peace Prize!

The point, though, is that they’re keeping their options open. It may be better to put down protest through fear than through action—but either works. In the rhetoric of today’s Republicans, a No Kings protester is functionally equivalent to a domestic terrorist. That gives them all the room to maneuver they might need."

A narrative informed by actual abuse of power by this president:

- deporting people with no due process
- detaining citizens based on their appearance
-snatching students off our streets by masked agents
-calling the democratic party, and now No King's protesters, terrorists....

Not that it will do them any good. Protesters in Oregon are taunting ICE agents with donuts and are dressing up in inflatable frog suits and Trump wants to call out the army to stop them.

Sounds kind of like Fascism.
