Already solved. The radiation belts are thinner near the poles, so by performing a polar orbit before leaving earth, they can avoid harm or damage. The electronics on the Apollo missions were extremely robust compared to modern electronics. They just need to scale back to using discrete transistors rather than integrated circuits. The computers will be slower, but they would be unharmed by radiation. Not according to Kelly Smith.
The Van Allen belts are belts of radiation, as I and others have mentioned several times. The sensitive electronic equipment on board space rockets needs to be protected against that radiation. They are not solid belts that prevent rockets passing through them.@David Lamb & @prodromos
Okay so we now know why a rocket arches so what I would like to know how the rockets gets through the Van Allen Belts ??
Thought we solved this problem in 1969

Creating drama.Well what is Kelly Smith on about in the above video ?
Upside down. Boy you turn me I guess : )Au contraire!

That's an outdated European-centric orientation of the globe. I stand with New Zealand, Chile and Argentina for a modern South up orientation. It's time for the south to shine!
Dave that maybe so . But the real question I think is upon the radiation affect upon anyone travelling through that belt. There was no real protection for the astronauts within that capsule of the Apollo mission to the moon . And we only have to look what took place upon one of the space Shuttle missions decades later when it got to close to experimenting with the Van Allen Belt. the effects on how it was becoming critical to the crews wellbeing . So much so they had move back into a lower earth orbitThe Van Allen belts are belts of radiation, as I and others have mentioned several times. Well, we do have the testimony of a Christian, Charles Duke (he became a Christian after he had been to the moon), He doesn't say he and his fellow astronauts were prevented from reaching the moon by the belts. I came across this website The Van Allen belts: are they dangerous? – Orion blog which includes the following paragraph:Dave that maybe so . Well Prodromos not worry the sun never sets on the British empire. it always be shining somewhereThat's an outdated European-centric orientation of the globe. I stand with New Zealand, Chile and Argentina for a modern South up orientation. It's time for the south to shine!
....or mistaken? He is either telling the truth or lying.
What British Empire? The Empire came to an end when the Brtish Commonwealth replaced it.Well Prodromos not worry the sun never sets on the British empire. it always be shining somewhere

What I meant was that it is not as black and white as truth or lies. He could truly believe what he says about the Van Allen belts, but be mistaken in those beliefs. Take another example. You know that I believe the earth to be a globe. I know that you don't. You don't accuse me of lying when I state my belief, and nor do I accuse you of lying when you say you believe that the earth is a flat disc. How can he be mistaken over something so important ?
Maybe we can only take him on his word . Buzz Aldrin also claims to be Christian. And when they returned from the moon. They looked like death warmed as if they were about to face a firing squad upon questions and answerWell, we do have the testimony of a Christian, Charles Duke (he became a Christian after he had been to the moon), He doesn't say he and his fellow astronauts were prevented from reaching the moon by the belts. "So they (the Van Allen Belts) do not represent such a serious issue. Why?
Because we know where they are, we know when we’re going to fly through them, we can do that quickly and we know we can protect against them through material shielding and by keeping astronauts inside the spacecraft. It would be a very poorly planned mission if it suffered seriously from the Van Allen belts in terms of human health."
The journey was a momentous one. They had been exposed to the tremendous acceleration of the rocket, as well as the stress of being in the public eye, and having various things they were expected to do, including talking to the US president, so it is hardly surprising that they looked rather washed-out afterwards. Think of a football team or a group of marathon runners before the match or race, and afterwards.Maybe we can only take him on his word . Buzz Aldrin also claims to be Christian. The actual thickness of the capsule was only ever so many inches thick from the astronauts and space . And when it comes to radiation the astronauts had no real protection at all. Anyway food for thought
