Numbers of people don't magically make people more abled and fit to take jobs.

Irrelevant. The numbers are what we can afford to do as a nation. Funding isn't limitless. Would you want Social Security to continue to support services in a manner to which we've become accustomed and then go broke, creating widespread hardship, or would you want it to change various requirements in an attempt to stay solvent and continue to pay out to most who receive checks even though this would create limited hardship?
