  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Consider researching Hamas before making provocative remarks about Netanyahu.

It may be beneficial to investigate instances in which Hamas have mistreated or oppressed their own citizens. It may be worthwhile to research how Hamas behead their own citizens. May be do some reading about how Hamas remove young boys from Palestinian families to train them to be solder like they did in 7th century Ottoman empire. May be do some research how Hamas stoning rape victims or put to death Palestinian gay man.
Yes, HAMAS are bad guys. They are pursuing a vicious nationalist insurgency which is being brutally suppressed. If you want to stop the fighting you have to deal with the people who are leading the fighting, because they are the only ones with the power to stop it, even if you think their power is illegitmate.

Who knows? Right now the negotiations are to end the fighting. Traditionally, it's the war leaders who enter those negotiations, whether the people support them or not is a different question, which can't be settled until after the fighting stops.
Hamas has been ruling the gaza strip for decades since they got voted into office decades ago. They steal humanitarian aid and sell it back to the palestinians for a profit. They murder anyone who dares to oppose them.

Without an external force, there is little chance of the people of gaza getting a choice in their leadership anytime soon.

So if HAMAS can force the fighting to continue, even if many Palestians don't want it to, then you are going to have to deal with HAMAS if you want the fighting to stop. There is no other way around it. What happens after the fighting stops is another question entirely.

Perhaps a question that should be adressed at some point. So far, the world seemed content to let the problem fester as long as not too many rockets fly out of Gaza and at Tel Aviv.

It’s not about illegitimacy of the Hama’s power. If the Gaza is handed back to Hamas, they will continue to brutally oppress its own citizens, kill those who disagree with them, take their food and enrich themselves, buy rocket and offensive weapon with the aid money given for food.

Is that ok with you ?

Fighting will persist after the war, just with new character. Instated of IDF , it will be Hamas who will be fighting on the street of Gaza.

If Hamas oversees Gaza they will oppress their own people, and fire rockets toward Jerusalem.

But no one would care because Palestine will be killing Palestinian, and Palestinian firing rockets, all the liberal will be ok with the situation in Palestine as long as IDF don’t retaliate. We have seen this movie again and again past 25 years.

Let's not pretend that it is only liberals that are apathetic to this.

That seems a stupid plan, but you never know with Trump. If he thought it would help him to the Peace Prize he would do it in a New York minute. But that would be for afters. Right now the fighting has to stop and in order to do that you have to deal with the people who are actually doing the fighting. Trying to find a more sympathetic leader who might go on be elected in hypothetical elections some time after the fighting has stopped begins to sound like an excuse to keep fighting. What authority would he have to have to order HAMAS to stop fighting? Why should HAMAS obey him?

I still support Israel.
What Matters is what Trump decides is right. He knows if Hamas is not gotten rid of, and the acceptance of Israel as nation is not accepted, this will happen again and again...Just as it always has.

Trump just wants the destruction of Israel out if the middle East. That is what has caused all this mess from the beginning. If this ends less than peaceful, it is because of people that won't accept peace at all costs.

Don’t matter how I feel about it.There’s no alternative organization that could realistically win the power struggle at this time.

Israel is the top military and only nuclear power in the region, there’s no realistic scenario where they’re destroyed.

If everyone else agreed, and only Hamas disagreed, why not? The deal was Hamas out, and another government in. Take Hamas out. The pressure from all the others could sway Hamas, so there might be some time for that to take. But if not take them out.

Death cults are not known for being “swayed” by pressure.

A day or two maybe. Not months. this is a situation where all the players there have agreed to this. So taking Hamas out won't be met with enflaming the middle east. So, if they think they can sway Hamas, sure give them a few days. But no more
