  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick believes Jeffrey Epstein may have used blackmail to get a lighter sentence

Asked by the New York Post's Miranda Divine on Wednesday's Pod Force One podcast whether high-profile associates of Epstein knew of his behavior and just ignored it, Lutnick said he believes, "No, they participated. They participated That's what his M.O. was -- 'Get a massage, get a massage.'"

"And what happened in that massage room, I assume, was on video," Lutnick said. "This guy was the greatest blackmailer ever."

"I assume, way back when, they traded those videos in exchange for him getting that 18-month sentence, which allowed him to have visits and be out of jail. I mean, he's a serial sex offender. How could he get 18 months and be able to go to his office during the day and have visitors and stuff? There must have been a trade."

The allegations stand in contrast with what FBI Director Kash Patel told Congress during testimony last month.

Ask by Sen. John Kennedy who, if anyone, did Epstein traffic young women to besides himself, Patel replied, "Himself. There is no credible information. None. If there were, I would bring the case yesterday that he trafficked to other individuals."

Lutnick, in his interview with Divine, described Epstein as "gross."

"I say to him, 'Massage table in the middle of your house? How often do you have a massage?'" Lutnick said. "And he says, 'Every day.'"

"And then he gets, like, weirdly close to me, and he says, 'And the right kind of massage,'" Lutnick said.

Is Lutnick just 'assuming', or does he know something? We may find out as I understand the House Oversight committee has subpoenaed him to see what he knows about this alleged blackmail.

Most Americans want the Epstein files released. 77% want all of the files released with the victims’ names removed, and 13% want some of the files released with all of the victims’ names removed. Only 9% do not want any of the files released.

84% of Democrats, 67% of Republicans, and 83% of independents want all of the files released.

And there is one person who absolutely doesn't want them released, and he literally trumps all those who do.

Well, we know that they’re not going to be “leaked”.

“Muddying-up-the-waters” is all this is; Lutnick’s perfect for it.

“Political-gossip” used to be juicy, but this is ham flavored bubblegum.

This appears to be a blatant First Amendment violation.

Trump-Epstein statue retrieved but not back on the National Mall

"No explanation was given as to why," he continued, "we were also told the Deputy Director said to never issue us a permit ever again."

[Media also asked for a reason.] We are still waiting for a response.
I guess no one came up with a good reason to violate the First Amendment. For the moment.

The Trump-Epstein statue is back up: ‘Like a toppled Confederate general’

“The ‘Why Can’t We Be Friends?’ (originally titled Best Friends Forever) statue is repaired and back up for a limited time on 3rd Street just north of the U.S. Capitol.”

The statue was erected Thursday afternoon after the anonymous “satirical activist” group says it worked “nonstop on ways to get this up legally within the Parks Department’s process. We are up there with their permission and knowledge. We will see if that matters,” the rep wrote.

Another email from NPS to Secret Handshake confirms, “You have a first amendment demonstration permit. Typically, first amendment permits are allowed to continue. We are still waiting for further guidance.”

It would seem counterproductive from Trump's standpoint to suggest that Epstein got special treatment for turning over kompromat on rich and powerful figures that has been covered up. That's exactly the sort of thing the rabid conspiracists are demanding to know about.

If he is honest (and he does seem honestly horrified that he moved in next door to a monster), I'm not sure if much can be gained from him (but they should still ask). The "blackmail" aspect has been *widely* discussed online and elsewhere since his "story" became widely known. It is one of a few "explainations" of Epstein's "activities" and wealth. Others include "works for spy agency" and "successful fund manager with disgusting habits and friends".

Perhaps Mr. Lutnik knows thing from living next door or has heard/seen since being in government, or he was just repeating something he heard in conversation/online.

Any right wingers able to help us understand why Republicans aren't as excited to get the Epstein files released suddenly?

Boy...what changes in a year.
