Yes, there were many apostles given by the Lord when He ascended to the Father.

As to the 12 apostles of the Lamb, they are for Israel as we know and not for the Body of Christ. They will rule in the New Jerusalem over the new earth and in the new heavens. (Rev. 21: 14)

Being born again, being born from above and born of water and spirit are the same thing seeing from a different angle. In John 3:3 it states "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God", in John 3:5 the lord says it in other words to explain it to Cornelius: "Jesus answered, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." Please note John never talks about the kingdom of heaven, only about the kingdom of God. These two are not the same. The kingdom of heaven is the earthly rain of Israel with Christ as King, when the Lord returns, the kingdom of God contains heaven and earth. Hence the double promises to Abraham.

No it is not salvation by itself, it is the first step on the way of salvation which has multiple steps as I mentioned in my previous answer.

No that is also not salvation by itself, it is the last step on the way of salvation. Like a school has classes in which students have to learn to go to a higher class, so is Scripture a study where we can rise to a "higher" class. Please note, it is all grace, nothing from ourselves.
