  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Despite blatant intimidation and cheating by the deplorable US crowd=mob at the 2025 Ryder Cup Europe beat US 15-13 to win and so retain the Ryder Cup

US fan ugliness at the Ryder Cup was merely a reflection of Trump’s all-caps America | Bryan Armen Graham

1. Rory McIlroy's wife was hit by a beer glass
2. Players and their wives were verbally insulted
3. There were many instances of the US mob trying to distract Team Europe's players as they were about to play their shot
4. At least one US caddy sought to distract a Team Europe player on the green
5. State police with dogs had to be brought in
6. Once the result was clear the US mob pushed off not waiting for the closing ceremony and the awarding of the trophy to Europe.

Now there were a lot of US fans there so the idea that this is just some small minority doesn't apply. This is America today. Are the Americans on this forum proud?

My apologies to you for unruly Americans. I see and hear lots of poor American behavior all the time. Politics in the USA are broken and many think it is just Ok to bear their emotions whenever they like. Could be too that many of these Americans bet on the ryder cup? The influence of gambling has ruined most American sports.

Thank you for the apologies. I wasn't there in person but it did detract from an exciting sporting event. Now I know one could argue it was only a small minority but the loud chorus of boos when the teams were introduced at the start of the day I just found astoundingly bad and that seemed to come from most of the crowd=mob.

I wish I could say with certainty is was a minority. I think so but it could be a rather large and growing one. In the last days love will grow cold. If no one was injured or shot at that might be considered a good day. But of course this behavior is far more than the golf event.

If I may be political for a moment; as to the EU, UK, and others, I just pray America returns to the greatness of thoughts like Kennedy who during the Berlin crisis said "Ich bin ein Berliner." That is much prefered versus the current American class of claiming ourselves as victims that gave too much to other nations and now are requiring something back. This brand of nationalism fueled mostly by the love of money, is going to be hard on everyone, but I do figure it is God's will for humility to return. God bless!
