  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello brothers and sisters in Christ,

I wanted to start a conversation about ethics and morality from a Christian perspective. We often read in the Bible about God’s standards for right and wrong, yet in daily life, it can sometimes be challenging to apply these principles consistently.

Some questions to ponder and discuss:

  1. How do you decide what is ethical or moral in complex situations?
  2. How does your faith guide your choices in everyday life, like work, relationships, and social interactions?
  3. How can Christians balance compassion with truth when facing moral dilemmas?
  4. Are there specific Bible verses or teachings that inspire you to act ethically even when it’s difficult?

I’d love to hear your thoughts, experiences, and Scripture references that guide your understanding of morality and ethics in today’s world. Let’s share wisdom and encouragement with each other.

“Let’s discuss with love and respect, keeping Christ at the center of our conversation. What does living righteously mean to you in practical terms?”

You might want to move this to the Christian-only section unless you want those who don't believe to put their two bits in.

Jesus summed it up in two commandments. We are selfish, self-serving individuals. When we put God's will first, we must then change (repent) of such behaviour. Loving all, not just self, means we must not only consider others in times of their need, but more importantly realize we all walk the same path but some have either been misled or mislead through what the world, not the kingdom has taught all of us. We all sin the original sin of self-interest. Pity others as we would pity ourselves for our misunderstanding compliment of the world's teachings.. The Kingdom is a counter-culture to the ways of man and no one can claim complete righteousness even when we see and understand the right path. When is the last time you allowed an undeserving soul to cut into your lane in traffic, as an example. When is the last time you took sides over policies of man? Our instinctive nature that feeds self is strong.

universal moral law that supersedes human culture and applies to all people . They serve as God's divine code of conduct for ethical behavior.

The "short list" being the 10 commandments. Jesus taught from the OT .... he provided a lot more detail but the basis of His teachings are rooted in the 10 commandments.

Welcome to CF!

Please be advised that the purpose Ethics and Morality subforum is for Christians to debate Ethics and Morality between Christians and unbelievers, and not just to get Christian answers to questions. If you are looking to get only Christian answers to your question, I would need to move this thread to the Exploring Christianity subforum for you. Is that something that you want?

At Christian Forums, we take member groups seriously. To everyone else, this user identifies as a Pagan in terms of their faith status, which precludes moving this thread to a Christians Only Subforum. Further posts, for right now, can be about what you view Christian answers to those questions to be, regardless of your own personal faith group, and I think that might have been what this poster intended.
