  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Don Lemon calls ceremony a 'political rally dressed as church'

Former CNN host Don Lemon says a memorial service held in honor of slain Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was, in fact, a thinly-veiled “political rally dressed as church.”

Lemon, 59, who is best known for hosting "Don Lemon Tonight" and later co-hosting "CNN This Morning” before he was fired in 2023, made the comments in a Sept. 22 livestream in which he took aim at Sunday’s memorial for Kirk held in Glendale, Arizona.

Kirk was assassinated Sept. 10 at the hands of an alleged 22-year-old shooter at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

Speakers who were on hand to recognize Kirk’s legacy included political leaders, White House cabinet officials, Turning Point USA and TPUSA Faith employees and conservative media influencers, as well as musical performances by prominent Christian artists.

Lemon said he began questioning the true intent of the service — which featured appearances by President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Kirk’s widow, Erika — after he was prompted by a friend’s text about Kirk being a “person of faith.”

I remember the memorial for senator Paul Wellstone, who died in a small plane accident while campaigning. They turned his memorial into a campaign event just days before the election, complete with anointing a successor for the senate seat. It really turned the electorate off. That was a Democratic Party mistake. Wellstone’s replacement would have probably won had they had a low key memorial. But nope.

The Kirk memorial was more of a mixed bag. Sure, Trump was Trump. His speech was only political. Most of the rest were far more appropriate. I watched the whole thing. I think Lemon complains too much. There IS something really changing with his murder, but it is far bigger and far better than mere politics.

FGirst yuou have to understand who Don Lemon is. He's a left-wing statist and racist, and he's notoriously anti-Christian. You have to filter everything he says through that underdtanding. There's not even a vague hint of impartiality in anything he says.

Yeah, and?

When you're too much of a leftist tool for CNN, that's saying a lot, and none of it laudatory. The best thing to do is ignore him.

As usual, Don Lemon has no clue what he is talking about.
"The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, Who is the image of God."
(2 Corinthians 4:4)

Praying, for many blind eyes to be opened.

I watched the whole thing, too.
And I found it almost *amazing*, all the talk that we publicly heard about Jesus!

That event was viewed by so many zillions of people.
I am hoping it served to make many hearts spiritually 'hungry' to know more about Him.
