It wasn't a joke, it was making false statements about an assassination. But if one wants stick to it being a joke, joking about someone who's just been assassinated is just as bad as making a false statement about someone who's just been assassinated. Either way Kimmel was way out of line.

Here it is in all it's glory. Go to 5:30 if you want to see him start crying again, like we all knew was going to happen. And then start putting his foot in his mouth like we all knew was going to happen. Before that he goes with the narrative that Trump suspended him like we all knew he would. Somehow he didn't blame Trump for Sinclair and Nexstar for refusing to air his show on all of their ABC stations. Oh and he was unfunny as usual.

I don't watch Jimmy Kimmel, but I was interested in watching how he came back. Would he be groveling and boot licking or come back boldly? I thought his return monologue was great. This is America. If we are going to make room for the conservative pundits to say what they want to say, we need to make room for Jimmy Kimmels to say what they want to say. That is how America and living in a free society are supposed to be. We should beware when our leaders want to control the media to stifle their opposition. That is a slippery slope to a kind of rule I doubt we want.

I think it was mostly ABC/Disney who's suspended and fired celebrates over what they've said before this. And there's also a whole lot of ABC stations that are no longer airing his show, which also was their own decision rather than the government having anything to do with it.

Ironically he thought it was hilarious when Tucker Carlson got fired over what he said. But when it's his turn suddenly it's not so funny anymore.

Coincidently both shows have really low ratings so they're not really making enough money for ABC and CBS. Have to wonder if ABC suspended Kimmel and blamed it on the government as a publicity stunt to get more viewers. It won't be surprising if CBS ends up "changing their minds" about dropping Colbert's show at the last minute.
