It was actually ABC who made the point by pulling his show, then caving in to violent protesters.

I think he should be able to say whatever he wants, if a broadcaster suspends him , advertisers pull out or viewers tune out, those are the consequences.

All of the celebrating and vicious statements about Kirk immediately after the shooting handed the right a boatload of political points. It was basically like a large number saying "I am Tyler Robinson".
