Must a proper EO consider OOs to be heterodox? Is this required as a proper understanding of Eastern Orthodox theology?

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is is true that EO and OO often share the sacred mysteries in war torn countries? IS there much difference theologically?

their bishops (to my knowledge) have blessed that they mutually care for each other.
there isn’t much difference between us, but what is different must be overcome first. until then, they are heretical.

Thank you, Father. I'm not very familiar with OO, and I think there is only one in my state, a Coptic Church. There are various EO, though.

That said, while their theology may be heretical, we must still treat them with the same love and respect as we would our own (not saying that you wouldn't, Fr, but it needs to be said for the other lurkers out there).

We, Oriental Orthodox, also do not consider Eastern Orthodox to be real Orthodox. At least until unification is achieved.

correct, they are definitionally heretics according to councils 4-7. it’s not me claiming it, it’s what the councils say.

If I say “I agree”, then that ought to mean (and does mean, in my case) that I humble myself to accept what the Councils declared. The division is above my paygrade. But, that said and accepted, there is literally no other confession that we get along better with and agree with on practically everything. We like the Copts. We just wish we were united.
