  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This isn't surprising at all given where it happened.
The main religion in Karachi, Pakistan, is Islam, which is adhered to by approximately 96.53% of the city's population according to the 2023 census.
Some like to think Islam in general is a "religion of peace". Barack Obama emphasized this view in one of his speeches calling for recognition of the "true peaceful nature of Islam" after terrorist attacks
The "religion of peace" further proves it's not.

How is it different? Religiously motivated violence is religiously motivated violence.
What articles did you read? There was no mention of religious motivation in the ones I read.

Before this goes too far down this alley, I just want to point out that Pepperdoodle assumed a religious motivation based on local demographics. And the same would go for the case I mentioned. But it would be better to actually find out what the motivation was in both cases.

Turning it a different way, it's impressive that Pakistan has provided rights and recognitions, 'despite' the overwhelming Muslim majority. You can get an 'X' passport in Pakistan, but no longer in the United States.

When was the last time a Christian group murdered people because they were transgender?

Well...it is Pakistan. What did everyone expect?
Interesting, transgender surgery is legal in Iran, but homosexuality is punishable by death.

LGBT individuals have zero rights or protections in most Islamic countries.

True. But that article didn’t even mention the perpetrators religion. It was a random act of violence.

Not to mention the countless gay men thrown off buildings in Islamic countries, or tortured to death.
