CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What is funny is that Bill Pulte's parents had two primary residences, though not since Pulte raised this accusation.
Bill Pulte, President Donald Trump’s appointee as director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency since 2020, has accused Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook of fraud, alleging that the former Michigan State professor improperly claimed her primary residence on two properties -- one in Ann Arbor and the other in Atlanta.
Based on the allegations, Trump tried to fire Cook, hoping to have her removed from the board so he could push through lower interest rates. A federal judge has ruled that her removal is illegal.
Interestingly, Reuters, citing public records, reports that Pulte's father, Mark Pulte, and stepmother, Julie Pulte, have done the same thing Cook is accused of. The Pulte parents have claimed primary residences in wealthy neighborhoods in both Michigan and Florida.....

Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer entered into two primary-residence mortgages in quick succession, including for a second home near a country club in Arizona, where she’s known to vacation. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has primary-residence mortgages in New Jersey and Washington, D.C. Lee Zeldin, the Environmental Protection Agency administrator, has one primary-residence mortgage in Long Island and another in Washington, D.C., according to loan records.

You have to take into consideration that Trump tried to fire her before, but he was blocked because SCOTUS said, in this case, that he couldn't fire her without cause, so he had his underling find a cause. Turns out to be a bogus cause, but it's nevertheless "a" cause.
Some people will call this presidential overreach - me among them.

Trump has accused Cook of mortgage fraud — a charge she denies — and has sought her dismissal, but the three-judge panel said the president violated Cook’s rights by not giving her a chance to defend herself against the accusations.
“The government does not dispute that it failed to provide Cook even minimal process — that is, notice of the allegation against her and a meaningful opportunity to respond — before she was purportedly removed,” the majority wrote in the 2-1 ruling.
The Trump administration is expected to appeal the case to the US Supreme Court.

The SCOTUS should have no business taking up this case or therefore lack of case. It's Roberts himself who has said the Fed Reserve has a special protection status from Trump's authoritarian firing that same Robert's court granted Trump. But then again, it's the Roberts court, so who knows.

Top Trump administration officials are pressuring federal prosecutors in Virginia to bring charges against New York Attorney General Letitia James for mortgage fraud, despite investigators so far failing to find sufficient evidence supporting such charges, according to sources familiar with the investigation.After a five-month investigation and interviews with more than a dozen witnesses, federal prosecutors have so far uncovered no clear evidence that James knowingly made false statements to a financial institution to secure favorable terms on a mortgage for her Virginia home, according to multiple sources briefed on the investigation.
When federal prosecutors recently declined to indict James, Pulte encouraged Trump to fire Erik Siebert, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and replace him with a prosecutor who would be willing to bring charges against James, sources said.
Pulte and Martin have argued that James committed mortgage fraud because one of the documents related to a 2023 home purchased by James falsely indicated the property would be her primary residence. However, investigators have so far determined that the document -- a limited power of attorney form used by James' niece to sign documents on her behalf when James closed on the home -- was never considered by the loan officers who approved the mortgage, sources said.
[Nor have investigators] been able to produce evidence that James knowingly filled out the power of attorney form incorrectly to influence the bank that issued the mortgage, said sources familiar with the investigation's findings thus far.

This is pure governmental overreach. The investigators are not supposed to start with a person and then find a crime to charge them with. Going after the president’s enemies has the appearance of corruption.
