Hey, Gnarly---good to see you!
It's been a wild and wooly summer. Momma had to go in for a total hysterectomy from April through July; she's on the mend. The kid started school, quit school, and is looking for a full-time job. He feels bad about dropping out, but I told him it is virtually impossible for a man to make a fatal career mistake before the age of 30 or so.....or at least, it didn't in my day, lol.
And me, well, I just get older and stiffer and unable to do more things as time goes on. I will be 65 on December 2nd, and I feel every year of it.

All those years as a combat engineer in the military and pounding pavement as a beat cop have taken their toll on my body....and yet, I just keep chugging along.
Overall, I can't complain. I have enough to eat and a roof over my head, and I am definitely looking forward to the cooler weather. A lot of leaves have started to change up here in northern Michigan, mostly ferns, sassafras, sumac and some of the trees; some of the sugar maples are a bright flaming red already. If it gets cold enough to kill all the bugs, I'll be happy.
