  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How is everybody?

Hopefully well. Are you guys ready for fall?

What's the latest at your parishes and in your lives (if you care to share)?
I’ve been ok. I’m so done with summer! My parish has a school and regular activities throughout the year.

Been doing pretty good. Been having some kidney issues since I had pneumonia in February and three surgeries. Everything seems good now as far as I know. My niece had lymphoma and she has finished treatment so keeping a close eye on that. We just lost my husband’s cousin to pancreatic cancer. Mom and MIL seem to be doing fairly well. My sister believe it or not is looking into the Catholic Church. She is still struggling with her mental issues unfortunately. We have a new priest that started last July. Everyone likes him and he seems to be very true to the Gospel and not so worried to conforming to world views as we so often see. How are things your way? :)

Forgot to mention my bil and aunt. Bil had a cancerous kidney removed and we are praying for no return of cancer. Also my aunt is scheduled for surgery in Nashville this upcoming week. She has an aneurysm in her aorta. Very dangerous so we’d all appreciate prayers if it crosses your mind. :praying: It’s been a year of a lot of health issues on both sides of the family.

Hey, Gnarly---good to see you! :)

It's been a wild and wooly summer. Momma had to go in for a total hysterectomy from April through July; she's on the mend. The kid started school, quit school, and is looking for a full-time job. He feels bad about dropping out, but I told him it is virtually impossible for a man to make a fatal career mistake before the age of 30 or so.....or at least, it didn't in my day, lol.

And me, well, I just get older and stiffer and unable to do more things as time goes on. I will be 65 on December 2nd, and I feel every year of it. :( All those years as a combat engineer in the military and pounding pavement as a beat cop have taken their toll on my body....and yet, I just keep chugging along.

Overall, I can't complain. I have enough to eat and a roof over my head, and I am definitely looking forward to the cooler weather. A lot of leaves have started to change up here in northern Michigan, mostly ferns, sassafras, sumac and some of the trees; some of the sugar maples are a bright flaming red already. If it gets cold enough to kill all the bugs, I'll be happy. :)

I’m SO ready for fall. I hate this heat and we haven’t had rain in a long time. We’ve got rain and lower temps in the forecast, so that’s good.

I‘m so sorry for all your family’s health issues. I’ll pray for them.
