  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Kash Patel unloads all blame for botched Epstein probe onto ex-Trump official

“I know that there's a lot of talk about Epstein, and I'm here to testify that the original sin in the Epstein case was the way it was initially brought by Mr. [Alexander] Acosta back in 2006,” Patel said, testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
The same Alexander Acosta that Trump rewarded with a cabinet position? That Alexander Acosta? Maybe it was a wise move; Acosta's sweetheart deal for Epstein meant a lot of things wouldn't become public.

Kash Patel says court orders bar him from releasing the Epstein files. Judges have said otherwise.

Patel appears to be mischaracterizing those recent court orders, which came amid a hurried effort by the Trump administration to ask federal judges for permission to release grand jury materials stemming from the case of Epstein and co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell.

In fact, one of the judges who ruled on the grand jury matter ... said the Trump administration had the power to release the [FBI records but not the grand jury records].

Patel then cited other sealed orders and protective orders

“Why are you not going to a court, like you did for the grand jury testimony?” Goldman wondered. “You are hiding the Epstein files, Mr. Patel. You are part of the cover-up.”

Lawmakers Accuse Trump Official of ‘Clear Coverup’ After Closed-Door Hearing

Acosta was called to testify behind closed doors before the House Oversight Committee, where he was grilled over his 2007 plea deal with Jeffrey Epstein — the one that let the billionaire sex offender avoid federal charges, serve minimal jail time, and continue abusing young girls.

Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (D-VA) didn’t hold back after the meeting. “Something fishy” was going on, he said in an interview with MSNBC.

“He told lawmakers that he didn’t know or remember what happened, and that he did not think the survivors were credible,” Subramanyam said.

That didn’t sit well with members in the room.

“It’s really hard to believe he didn’t know what was going on,” Subramanyam continued. “He was in charge of the case himself.”

Subramanyam praised the Epstein survivors who have come forward and urged Congress to “follow the money,” suggesting that Epstein used his wealth and trafficking ring to conduct shady business deals — the extent of which has yet to be uncovered.

Acosta did not take questions from reporters going into the hearing, and he left without comment.

The denials on the birthday letter

But then his lawsuit against the Journal’s parent company claimed the letter didn’t even exist, calling it the “nonexistent letter.” We now know the letter not only existed, but it was in Epstein’s estate. That would sure suggest this wasn’t just a fake created recently to make Trump look bad; it was something that had been in Epstein’s possession.

Trump doesn’t face any accusations of wrongdoing in relation to Epstein. But he’s repeatedly made false claims about the convicted sex offender and his relationship with him that make it increasingly hard to take his strained denials about the letter seriously.

WSJ moves to dismiss Trump's $10B lawsuit over alleged letter in Epstein birthday book

The motion contends that the paper's article about the letter is true.

"The Birthday Book as produced by the Epstein estate and later publicly released by the House Oversight Committee contains a letter identical to the one described in the Article," the motion states.

The motion further contends that the article is not defamatory, arguing that "there is nothing defamatory about a person sending a bawdy note to a friend, and the Article cannot damage Plaintiff’s reputation as a matter of law."

"Because Plaintiff has publicly admitted that he was Epstein's friend in the early 2000s, his reputation cannot be harmed by the suggestion that he was friends with Epstein in 2003. Indeed, he was listed in the Birthday Book as a 'friend' of Epstein."

The defense motion calls the President's lawsuit "an affront to the First Amendment" and seeks dismissal with prejudice along with a grant of attorneys fees and costs to the defendants.

After the Virginia special election, they only need one more. Now comes the Arizona special election where both candidates have vowed to sign the discharge petition.

Both the Democratic front-runner, Adelita Grijalva, and her Republican challenger, Daniel Butierez, have publicly expressed their intent to provide the deciding signature on the discharge petition to circumvent Johnson and force a House vote on releasing the Jeffrey Epstein files.

With the House’s current makeup, Representatives Thomas Massie, a Republican, and Ro Khanna, a Democrat, are just one signature shy on their bid to force a vote—which would likely go to the House floor and pass with Grijalva’s or Butierez’s signature. While Johnson can try to block it via the House Rules Committee, he and the committee chair, Virginia Foxx, have both reportedly said they wouldn’t do so.

Statue of Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein holding hands appears on National Mall

A plaque at the base reads, "In honor of Friendship Month, we celebrate the long-standing bond between President Donald J. Trump and his closest friend Jeffrey Epstein." Two additional plaques reference a birthday letter Trump allegedly wrote to Epstein, which included a crude drawing.

Recordings released in 2023 captured Epstein referring to Trump as his "closest friend." Trump has since said their relationship soured in the mid-2000s, claiming he distanced himself from Epstein after he "stole" young female employees from one of his clubs.

According to a National Park Service permit, the statue is allowed to remain on display until Sept. 28 at 8 p.m.

Feds Remove Statue of Trump and Epstein From National Mall

The Park Police say the installation was out of compliance with a permit that originally allowed it to stay up till September 28.

The National Park Service hasn’t yet replied to Washingtonian‘s request for comment, nor has the White House. This story will be updated.

That happened so fast, they didn't have time to offer a reason for the non-compliance.

Trump Complained to Aides That People ‘Don’t Understand’ Epstein Situation Because ‘Palm Beach in the 90s Was a Different Time’: WSJ

Trump reportedly “groused” that “people don’t understand that Palm Beach in the 90s was a different time.”

The next day, Trump reportedly “called influential allies” to seek counsel over the controversy.

“Why is everyone so fixated on the issue? he wanted to know. What would make it die down?” the Journal reported.

Maybe make good on your promise to release the Epstein files.

Anybody want some Epstein files?

The Epstein estate offered more to Congress, and Democrats on the Oversight Committee have made some of them public.

The documents produced to the public include mentions of possible contact between Jeffrey Epstein and prominent figures like Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, Steve Bannon, and Prince Andrew. Further review of the documents, which were redacted to protect the identity of victims, is ongoing.

Within documents of Epstein’s schedule, there is evidence that Thiel and Bannon had scheduled meetings with Epstein, as well as evidence of a pending trip by Elon Musk to Epstein’s island. Prince Andrew is listed as a passenger on Epstein’s aircraft, with financial disclosures providing possible evidence of payments from Epstein to masseuses on behalf of an individual identified as “Andrew.” Extensive redactions have been made to protect victims as Committee investigators continue to analyze the new documents. This is a rolling production, and the Committee expects to receive more documents in response to these and other requests.

No wonder Elon knew Trump was in the Epstein files.

This appears to be a blatant First Amendment violation.

Trump-Epstein statue retrieved but not back on the National Mall

The creators of the project, who are part of the group "Secret Handshake," say it was removed on Wednesday morning by US Park Police and the National Park Service.

With a new permit issued, they were hoping to get it back on the National Mall.
One of the organizers spoke to WUSA9 on the condition of anonymity.
"We were told this permit was approved many times, but had not received it in person yet," he explained, "all of a sudden, everything changed. We were informed that the Deputy Director of the National Park Service had stepped in and overridden our approved permit to revoke it once again."
"No explanation was given as to why," he continued, "we were also told the Deputy Director said to never issue us a permit ever again."

[Media also asked for a reason.] We are still waiting for a response.

A bipartisan group of lawmakers appears to have the support needed to force a House vote on a measure demanding that the Trump administration release its investigative files on the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Adelita Grijalva, a Democrat who on Tuesday won a special election for a House seat in Arizona, has committed to signing on to a so-called discharge petition that would force action on the measure. The petition needs the signatures of a majority of the House — 218 members — to succeed, and Ms. Grijalva is poised to be the 218th.

Well some Republicans ain't going to be happy about this.
