This sounds to me like a battle of ideas for persuasion and action at the ballot box.
Most ( not all) of the visible mental insanity I am seeing seems to be from leftist ideology in the assassins and the those celebrating the assassinations.
Trump has been a genuine assassination target.
In this world how is one to know that?It denotes that the previous statement was intended to be sarcastic.
I like to live dangerously. In this world how is one to know that?
I'm wondering if what seems like you putting words in my mouth is actually just badly misunderstanding what's being said. I was talking about all of the celebrating Kirk's death and trash talking him the day of his assassination. The topic of this thread is the the Kirk killing, not Jan 6th.The only people egging them on on Jan 6 were folks pushing the "stop the steal" con, which was ...checks notes... not the left.
What’s more likely to be the case is that you’ve gotten turned around and forgotten what thread you’re in. Nobody in this thread - not you nor anybody else - has talked about “celebrating Kirk’s death and trash talking him the day of his assassination.” This thread is about some of Trump’s comments.I'm wondering if what seems like you putting words in my mouth is actually just badly misunderstanding what's being said. Trump says: ‘we have to beat the hell’ out of ‘radical left lunatics'.What’s more likely to be the case is that you’ve gotten turned around and forgotten what thread you’re in. In this charged, outraged, unstable nation would such “figurative language “ be good leadership?Trump says: ‘we have to beat the hell’ out of ‘radical left lunatics'.
I say: he was probably speaking figuratively.
You say: the right might take it literally.
I say: then egging on the right (by celebrating Kirk’s death and trash talking him the day of his assassination) probably wasn't a good idea.
Usually what happens is, the president says a bunch of stuff, and then the media isolates a few words out of all of it to use against him and stir up the public. In this charged, outraged, unstable nation would such “figurative language “ be good leadership?
Have you ever heard the old expression that goes "when all you have is a hammer, every problem is a nail"? That's Trump, and by extension MAGA in a nutshell. The only tool in the arsenal is "Blame the left!" When Trump lost the 2020 election, he blamed the left for voter fraud (despite no evidence whatsoever). When Charlie Kirk was shot, he blamed the left (despite the actual killer not being on the left, politically). See a pattern?A "what if" scenario. The left egging them on so much might not have been such a good idea.
Even though it's been the left celebrating the assassination and trash talking Kirk after his death, no finger should be pointed at the left.Have you ever heard the old expression that goes "when all you have is a hammer, every problem is a nail"? -- A2SG, not really a hard puzzle to solve.....
Man, it's times like this I really wish I'd gone into Irony Meter Repair as a career choice.Even though it's been the left celebrating the assassination and trash talking Kirk after his death, no finger should be pointed at the left.
Journalists are supposed to be intelligible.Man, it's times like this I really wish I'd gone into Irony Meter Repair as a career choice.
-- A2SG, journalism may not have been the best choice, in retrospect....
Well, I'm not currently a working journalist, so I guess I can be as intelligible as I like.Journalists are supposed to be intelligible.
Yep. Some people tend to go more for style and attempted sophistication, rather than clarity. Like apparently I'm supposed to get the Demi Lovato reference. It's like one is supposed to be familiar with what the other is familiar with, and perhaps even be a mind reader to follow along.Well, I'm not currently a working journalist, so I guess I can be as intelligible as I like.
Or could it be you simply did not get my inference? Sorry about that.
-- A2SG, apologies to Demi Lovato....
I thought my initial post was very clear and quite intelligible. But when you chose to ironically prove my point, I decided to make a cute comment on the irony. That, apparently, seemed unintelligible to you, and thus, here we are.Yep. Some people tend to go more for style and attempted sophistication, rather than clarity.
Then don't worry about it.Like apparently I'm supposed to get the Demi Lovato reference. It's like one is supposed to me familiar with what the other is familiar with, and perhaps even be a mind reader to follow along.
There wasn't any irony involved though.I thought my initial post was very clear and quite intelligible. But when you chose to ironically prove my point, I decided to make a cute comment on the irony. That, apparently, seemed unintelligible to you, and thus, here we are.
Yeah, there was. That you can't see it would have been why an irony meter would have broken. There wasn't any irony involved though.
