You listen a lot of Fox News do ya?
Ewww - what a horrible concept! Fox are a joke, and just repeat whatever Tump says because.... ratings!
They're following the money - which is a very Trump thing to do - no matter how unethical that money is.
BTW - they were fined $787 million in damages for repeating Trump's "Big Lie" and specifically in attacking the Dominion Voting Machines.
The Media Bias group rate Fox a "Questionable Source." - with "Mixed" Quality reporting (NOT GOOD!) and skewing FAR-RIGHT.
CA has gerrymandered for a very long time.
I'm Australian. I would not know unless forced to read about it in conversations like this. Thank you for informing me.
So much so that the voters decided they wanted an independent committee for it.
As I have said up the thread a bit - Australia's only 124 years old - and yet ALL our States have independent electoral commissions that do this objectively - and are constitutionally confined by mathematical formula to do with shifts in the population. It's a
basic foundation for a
valid democracy - and America is already rated poorly in terms of democratic decline. This is a contributing factor.
It's one of the reasons
The Economist rates the USA as a Flawed Democracy - and Australia as a FULL Democracy. There are a number of other metrics - but independent, objective, constitutionally protected civil service like an empowered electoral commission is one of them.

1. Summary of the results
Based on the analyses provided,
the United States is consistently ranked 28th globally and classified as a "flawed democracy" according to the Economist Intelligence Unit's Democracy Index
[1]. The US democracy score
remained unchanged in 2024, maintaining its position in the "flawed democracy" category rather than achieving "full democracy" status
[2] [1].
The global context reveals a concerning trend: the global democracy score hit an all-time low in 2024, with democratic decline and strengthening authoritarianism continuing worldwide [2]. According to
2023 data, only 7.8% of the world's population resides in a "full democracy," while more than one-third lives under authoritarian rule [3]. Despite some positive developments in 2024, the US continues to face significant democratic challenges including
low trust in media and institutions, political gridlock, and sharp inequalities [2].
Domestically, three-quarters of Americans believe democracy is under serious threat, according to an NPR/PBS News/Marist poll [4].

Oh really? Actual, objective evidence for that statement?
By what source? When did they measure it?
Now Newsome wants to go back to the old days before the committee.
No - Newsom
doesn't want to have to do this!
He's only doing it because he is trying to stop Trump's
NPD and "Project 2025" marching towards Autocracy.
This is a very dangerous time in America.
Why can't you see it?
