And when Fox try to attack him for it - there's a vast difference at play.
Gavin can turn it off in a second - he's just having fun.
But Fox's guy? He can't help it. That IS him!

That’s what I thought about the GOP when Trump came onto the scene with his crazy antics and just look at us now.

For some reason being a troll seems to resonate well with the average voter.

The extra funny part is that rightwing media is complaining that these antics are not gubernatorial. Not fitting the high office to which he has been elected. Every time they do so, they are critiquing President Trump.

I don't see how. It's not like they are doing well in public opinion up to this point. It's not like the people who like Trump's style are going to change their opinion so lampooning it does not strike me as overly problematic from a risk / reward perspective. I guess we will see.

Right but continually doing things that makes them look bad is going to keep them at rock bottom. Newsome can be seen as basically having a meltdown over Trump. Democrats tend to appear to be in meltdown mode quite a bit. Such as Rep. Rashida Tlaib banging a pot with a spoon on Capitol Hill. It's like the message is "we're losing our minds".

From your perspective it might look like a meltdown. Certainly that is not what it looks like from mine. We will see what the prevailing perception is over time. I'm guessing most will see it as the satire it is intended to be.

Based on what I'm hearing and reading, even from Democrats themselves, is they've been handling things really badly and are falling apart at the seams. MAGA loves what Newsome is doing and wants him to keep it up.

Newsom does seem to be betting the farm on this tactic. If it doesn't pan out, there are plenty of Democrats with national ambitions who didn't try this tactic.
