Like the only hospital in a rural area of Nebraska, now closing due to cuts in Medicaid. Stuff like that. That one won't just impact people on Medicaid; it will affect everyone in that area needing medical care.

There were no cuts to Medicaid. You are being lied to. And this clinic or whomever wrote this is lying too.

There were no cuts to Medicaid.
Republicans in Congress pushed through the largest Medicaid cuts in history, a move advocates say will inevitably shrink services for people with disabilities across the nation.

The U.S. House of Representatives narrowly voted to approve almost $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid just before the Fourth of July holiday as part of a sweeping bill designed to make good on many of President Donald Trump’s domestic priorities. A similar scenario played out in the Senate just days prior.

No Democrats in either chamber voted for the measure, which President Donald Trump is expected to swiftly sign into law.

You think the hospital just closed for the fun of it, depriving the people of that county access to medical care? I don't think you're lying, but you need to pay attention to what the republican's own CBO is saying. Apparently, Trump's own advisors were telling him that Medicaid would not be cut, after which at least one republican congressman informed him that it was being cut. He's being isolated from the process now. They know he won't read it before signing it.

Glad they’re getting what they voted for.
The 17% of residents who didn't vote for it, and the kids who had no say in it, will be punished along with those who trusted the fool.

It's only a 42 minute drive from Curtis NE to McCook NE, where there is a community hospital, as well as urgent care offices, etc.

Also, it's only 27 miles from Curtis to Gothenburg... I'd just go to Gothenburg Health. They have good reviews.

So people of limited means now must make a nearly hour and a half round trip to get care, when they used to be able to just go to the local hospital. So maybe a couple gallons of gasoline, assuming they have an automobile. Maybe another 6 dollars. Not much to some of us, but for some, that's six dollars they don't have. And most of them will be wage employees and lose more wages. Again, not much to some of us, but to some people, it's the difference between making it work and failing.

Good thing it's not the 1800's, they'd ride horseback in the cold.. People back then were tough, I think (some-many, they-them) liberals wouldn't survive with all the complaining and whining.

Or the stone age; they'd have no doctors. Not sure if that's any comfort to them. BTW, in the 1800s, doctors often came to the patient's house. Anyway, while it's true that the Trump voters should have used more sense, many other people will pay for their mistake.

Hopefully it makes them stronger. We need less wimps in this country.

Of course, if you're bleeding you might not survive the trip.

Nah, you take a big shot of whiskey, then bite down on a thick piece of leather, while someone hot iron brands your wound. That's real America strength!

Then you ride your horse in the snow.

Those people are of no concern to MAGA whatsoever.

You mean those hypothetical people. I haven't seen any evidence of any Curtis Nebraska resident who has died, because they can't make it to the other hospital 27 miles away.

Also, let's get real... Ambulances are still stationed close to Curtis for heart attack and stroke victims.

I see you don't trouble to hide your distain, but be careful. It was working class people--skilled trades unionists--who put down communism in Poland. We can do the same and put down MAGA in our country. You've given out the bait too soon. What do you think will happen when drag queens don't read to kids any more, LGBTs are back in the closet and all the pet-eating Hatians are gone? What happens when that fraction of the working class you have bamboozled with that stuff realizes that's all they are going to get?

Hey, I have no problem with Dennis Rodman. He's not the one crying about pronouns, telling people what they have to do. he's a legend!

So people have to take 2 hours to travel to medical care, with all the attendant expenses, and time off from work, so that some wealthy people can have a big tax cut. People are starting to realize what's in the bill, which most strongly penalized the groups that voted for Trump:

By the numbers: The bill slipped underwater in several other recent polls, including ones from Fox News (38% favored vs. 59% opposed), KFF (64% viewed unfavorably, 35% viewed unfavorably) and Pew Research Center (49% opposed and 29% in favor).

Educated, affluent people aren't going to be harmed that much. Most of them voted democrat. Trump voters are going to take a hit.

Malnourishment isn't rhe same things as literally killing a child.
But it does do permanent damage to society.

Malnourished children had poorer cognition at both ages. Deficits were stable across time, applied to all sex and ethnic groups, and remained after controlling for multiple measures of psychosocial adversity. Children with 3 indicators of malnutrition had a 15.3-point deficit in IQ at age 11 years.

Less likely to hold jobs, more likely to commit crimes. Huge cost to society.

The article is another opinion piece. Its nor based on facts. The clinic closed before the bill was even out into effect. Thats how close they were to shutting down in the first place. I bet they were on their way out anyway and this was a convinient excuse. Because there were no cuts to Medicaid.
