Report: ‘Bionic Shield’ Masks Handed Out by Masked Group in LA

Protests in downtown Los Angeles took an unusual turn Monday night when a group clad in masks handed out riot shields and masks called a “bionic shield,” per reports.
I hesitate to question IJR's sterling reporting, but for people who watched the video, were there any "riot shields"?

The masks are marketed as "face shields", but they are clearly intended for industrial purposes, so they are not "riot shields" for your face.

Multiple sources have said they are high end masks.

They are not something you run down to Walmart and get.
Funny you say that. It is the Walton heiress that is supplying them. That came out this morning.

ETA: I wanted to slightly backtrack on this. It wasn't the Walton heiress, it was a daughter-in-law.

As far as being "provoked" goes, what in the world is "provoking" all of this unleashed hatred of immigrants? We have immigrants in my town, and we live peaceably with them. They attend our churches, they do wonderful work as roofers, contractors, landscapers, seamstresses, cooks, housekeepers, etc. Their work ethic is unbelievable. Exactly what are they doing that gets you so angry? Are they racing to get parking spots in Wal-Mart before you?

What's so wrong about empathy? Lack of empathy is not a virtue. It is a sad condition that prevents people from being full human and fully alive.
You left out the "illegal" part concerning the immigrants that are being deported. I highly doubt that the immigrants you are living so peaceably with that attend churches and work at the jobs you mentioned are the same people that are being deported, which are the ones who have records as murderers, rapists, human and drug traffickers, and child molesters. Those are the ones that have a record with law enforcement and the courts which makes them easy to find by ICE. As for empathy, why don't you try showing some empathy for those who have been victimized by these illegal aliens? I keep hearing so much about having empathy for those who break the laws and victimize people and then manage to somehow get back out on the street after doing so, but very little about their victims.

If that were the case, ICE woud not be raiding places of employment or Home Depot parking lots.

That is just one of the places that the criminal illegal immigrants were hiding.... in plain sight.

Okay, how many vehicles should we let them burn, how many boulders can they drop on cars off overpasses and how many stores can they loot before the police take action?
Tell you what...before I respond to your post, why don't you read what I wrote, okay?

You mean like the ones who were sent to the gulag in El Salvador? The ones claimed to be MS 13 or Tren de Agua or some such? Yeah, turns out not only were they not gang members but they were not even here illegally. They were asylum seekers. Kind of spoils the narrative when you are sending innocent people to gulags to die.

Among them: a makeup artist, a soccer player and a food delivery driver, being held in a place so harsh that El Salvador's justice minister once said the only way out is in a coffin.

I'm sorry, but 60 Minutes has demonstrated their biases too often and they are not a credible source of news.

They're too late. The invasion happened under Biden
They work fast. All the major cities in this American state all have Spanish names already.

Repeating the claim does not make it so.
It’s a silly claim to make too. The Ukrainians were actually invaded by an actual military and somehow their country is still standing. We’re supposed to believe an “invasion” of gardeners and food truck vendors will be the ones who bring the United States to its knees.

...so basically a protective device designed to block objects and liquids from hitting one's face.

What's the issue here?
They want liquids and objects hitting protesters in the face.

This is certainly a concern, that the 'professional protestors', anarchists and/or accelerationists are co-opting the situation.
Speaking of the instigators...

Some far-left groups have encouraged peaceful protests to turn violent, experts say

“MORE. MORE AND MORE AND MORE,” a group known as Unity of Fields posted on X, along with a video of the flaming vehicles.

The post wasn’t an anomaly. Since the start of the demonstrations against immigration raids in Los Angeles, the Unity of Fields X account has been pumping out messages urging people to wreak havoc in the streets

It’s part of a far-left online ecosystem that has proliferated in recent years, experts say. Some of the groups behind the accounts express contempt for peaceful resistance and glorify acts of violence — and even murders, like those of the UnitedHealthcare CEO and two Israeli Embassy staffers.

“Whether they directly threw a Molotov cocktail is actually not as essential as the ecosystem of encouragement and coordination they have created,” said Joel Finkelstein, a co-founder of the Network Contagion Research Institute, a nonpartisan group that tracks online extremism.

The unrest in Los Angeles follows a pattern that has played out in numerous cities over the past five years in which protests that break out remain mostly peaceful during the day, but at night agitators engage in fiery clashes with police.

Were they the acts of lone wolves seizing an opportunity to target police? Or was there a level of coordination and planning among the instigators?

Experts say it’s likely to be a combination of both.

“What we found in our research is there are groups that were attempting to exploit the situation, oftentimes after dark, and their coordination was somewhat sophisticated,” said Alex Goldenberg, a senior adviser to the Network Contagion Research Institute.

“What’s concerning is the attempt to conflate the individual actors who do commit violence with the mass movement as a whole,” said Jon Lewis, a research fellow at the Program on Extremism at George Washington University.

IOW, you approve of the dragnet approach. So much for deporting the "worst of the worst" and those who are on final deportation orders. They have a 3k per day quota to meet afterall.

Say, when will ICE target employers in red states that are known to employ large numbers of illegal immigrants?

...happening since Calinfornia become a state. Mexico is now taking it back.
Or give it to Spain. Or look further back and see if it was first taken from the American indians. And then look into that further to find out which particular tribe of Indian, first had the land, before other tribes took it from them...
