The purpose was to manifest God's glory.
The most succinct scrip' I could find was 2 Cor 14:15..."For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God."Can you back that with scripture or is that your opinion?
I believe that God sent Jesus into the world in order to unite ALL things in him.
Ephesians 1:10
As a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in Him, things in heaven and things on earth.
There are multi purposes for his coming, depends on which scripture passage you prefer to focus on.
I'll let the scriptures speak for themselves. What was the purpose?
Yes, that's another thing He came to do.to bring division ...
well yes understanding this speaks to a process within us of which that which is outside of us is but a picture of ...Yes, that's another thing He came to do.
Matthew 10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. 34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. 37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
He came to divide the world into two groups. Those who are with Him and those who are against Him (saved and lost, righteous and wicked) and the two groups would not be at peace with each other.
Matthew 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
Jesus came to bring His followers together into one body (Ephesians 2:11-22) and to separate them from unbelievers. As Paul said..
2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
Good day.
Matt 1:21 - She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
He came to save His people from their sins.
In Him,
Bill
Good day, GuojingWho do you think the term "his people" could refer to, given what he also said in Matthew 10:5-7 and Matthew 15:24?
