So now it is operating on 10% of its budget and people all over the world are starving. There is another more selfish reason why we need to fully fund USAID. The Chinese are heavily invested in Africa. In the past, we have educated many deserving Africans in the US and they have come home to lead their countries as democratic leaders. If we stop educating Africans they will be educated by China, and will come back to lead their countries as strong allies of China.

It's not the role of government to choose charities to give taxpayer dollars to. Americans and American organizations should decide for themselves and step forward. For example, the Democratic Party could promise to only spend what the Republican party does on campaigns and give the excess to Catholic Relief Services and other charitable organizations.
