The whole point of negotiating with a foreign country is to come up with an agreement. China and Iran have a history of cheating and violating agreements every time they can, and they took great advantage of the weakness of Joe Biden. Trump is fully aware of that and will keep a careful watch upon them. But without negotiations the alternative is war. If a country offers 1 trillion dollars in investment in the United States and our financial people determine they can invest no more than half a trillion, it seems foolish to me to publicly denounce that country as a liar. Give them an opportunity and renegotiate if they don't keep a promise.

But the price has dropped because there is a glut of oil. Countries are using less as they convert to renewables. And that's the way the world is heading. You want to hitch your horse to a country that relies on high gas prices to maintain its influence? That's not quite as dumb as buying coal mining stocks, but it's not a million miles away from it.
