To be used solely by Donald trump as it will be donated to his library after his term. No other president will have access to it.

So yes it is a gift to him, not the office if president.

Napolitano to Newsmax: Qatar's Jet Gift to DOD, Not Trump

Trump addressed the planned transaction on social media Sunday, describing it as a "very public and transparent transaction" involving the Department of Defense, according to ABC News.

Trump has brought in 2.2 trillion dollars from Qatar and Saudi Arabia, an incredible accomplishment for the American people.

This donation belongs to the country, the opposite of Qatar's gift to the Clintons:

Clinton's charity confirms Qatar's $1 million gift while she was at State Department

The Clinton Foundation has confirmed it accepted a $1 million gift from Qatar while Hillary Clinton was U.S. secretary of state without informing the State Department, even though she had promised to let the agency review new or significantly increased support from foreign governments.
What about this other bad thing that happened in 2011 - that's not about a president accepting millions in gifts for his own use that would cost taxpayers a boatload of money?

Lols. Where are the details of this transparent transaction? Who and how was it determined that this gift would go to the library instead of remaining in the DOD?

Actual dollars or promises of some investment in the future?

To be used solely as air force one for trump, then gifted to his library so no other holder of the office can use it. It is a gift to to Trump, just in the DODs name.

Who is gifting the plane to the library? Is it the DOD?

The other thing is that on order to be used as air force one the plane would have to be gutted, searched for bugs and spyware, this is not happening any time soon.
Sounds more like a white elephant.

I'm sure we'll see the leftist outrage soon.....

You know, we should have sent rhe Statue of Liberty back to rhe French. Or at least the stupid poem.

The US government shouldn't be taking any gifts from any country ever.
The statue of liberty is an example of private enterprise. It was funded by private citizens of both the USA and France.

I am sure the french state donated some funds, but the conception, design was not by the french state, but a private individual and funding model was through shares.

We should send it back but only because we’ve abandoned the ideals she once stood for.

Also, to compare the historical relationship between the United States and France to Qatar is a bit of an insult to the French. No offense to any Qataris, I’m sure they’re fine people but they never had any hand in our independence.

Do you know who is going to pay the enormous cost of reconfiguring it (should it actually be accepted as a standby, which it won't)?

You.

Saudi promised $600 billion. No deal, no sign off, no commitments. Nada. And it's said that Trump is hoping for $1 trillion. Do you know what Saudi's GDP is? I read it this morning. It's barely $1 trillion. As a comparison, that's the same as the Netherlands.

And what is that GDP based on? Oil prices. Which need to hover around $96 a barrel. Texas crude is around $60 at the moment. And is likely to drop as low as $40. Now that's not Trumps doing, although he'll try to kid you that it is. So he's in something of a bind. He needs the price to be high, or he most definitely won't get anything from the Saudis. But he promised you it would be low.

Which would you prefer?

On Thursday, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed lauded the strong partnership between the two countries that grew under Trump’s leadership and vowed to invest $1.4 trillion in the US economy over 10 years.
The White House said the two countries had also signed business deals worth more than $200 billion, including a $60 billion partnership with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and a $14.5 billion Etihad Airways order of Boeing planes.
“You’re an amazing country. You’re a rich country. You can have your choice, but I know you’ll never leave my side,” Trump said after the $1.4 trillion announcement Thursday, addressing the UAE president.

I vow to give you a thousand dollars a month for the next 10 years (I'm assuming that my income stream remains steady).

Hey, you're a winner! Someone just promised you money! Book some trips. Buy a new house. Get that Maserati.

Take them at their word, that is the right thing to do. If the countries don't keep their word then we will know that for future negotiations.

Take them at their word? Gullible...thy name is MAGA. But do so anyway. Take my promise. Act on it. Spend the money you haven't got, yet expect to get.

Nah, you're not that stupid. You'll wait to see how it turns out. You know very well that some people don't keep their promises. Gee, if only I could think of a person we both know to exemplify that...
