I imagine Trump is forcing them to take market share from China, not allowing them to dump in their country and then resell their goods to us.

Can you explain how increasing production costs in the Bangladeshi garment industry and subsequently making their products more expensive would help them gain market share? How does this align with basic economic principles?

If PBS or NPR exhibit bias towards liberal or conservative ideas, or promote shows that offend any political group, the answer isn't defunding them. The solution is to appoint leaders who will present programs that reflect American interests, similar to profit-driven media guided by ratings instead of political agendas.
In today's age, there are not too many people with neutral bias. I try to be neutral as much as I can, but deep down, I still hold a conservative bias. I feel that corporate media is dying, especially on the left. ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and MSNBC all have to compete for the same advertising money. Because of technology, you can find what shows are on PBS on the internet on YouTube.

Yes, American interests, and I think teaching the many non-English speakers our language. My son works with El Salvadorans, and he tells me that they ask him to teach English, and in turn, he is getting better at speaking Spanish. This way, they don't have to go to a community college or pay for a language website.

Teach high schoolers about living in the real world and with money. We can do better instead of showing the world we are a bunch of dummies.

There aren't any. There isn't any need for it. Nature programs, travel programs etc are all available on other platforms just like I mentioned. Tons of those programs, 24 hours a day.
Well, isn't it nice of you to just assert that no one else gets to decide if they see value in the programing they don't see elsewhere. The all powerful rjs330 has decried it so.

Trump could cure cancer and liberals would still rant against it

For all intensive purposes Trump completed the COVID-19 vaccine and there were a good amount of non liberals up in arms when he told his supporters to take it at a rally back in 2021 in a field in Cullman, Alabama.

The value of the programming us not relevant. The prevalence is. The cost to the taxpayer is. The taxpayer shouldn't be paying for NPR or PBS because the types of programming they provide is found everywhere. It is NOT needed in any fashion. Becauae it is not needed it is a waste of taxpayer money. Why is it so important to pay for something you can find in a ton ofother places?

PBS and NPR are national broadcast organizations built from smaller public broadcasters. The local public broadcasters are generally controlled by the states at some level through a special authority, the state university system, the state education board, or something like that.

The "types" of programming, but the quality? That's a different question. And it is relevant.

In our state its by rhe University system, which is primarily liberal leaning. As are most University who are involved. Plus we have the added issue of most people who are interested in doing PBS and stuff are liberals, which makes it very difficult to balance out to get a centrist approach.

Best just not to fund something that's not needed anymore.

And who controls the state university system?

You should tell that to my rural Republican-voting relatives.

And who controls the state university system?
Depends on the state. Often its those with educator experience and educators are typically liberals who have been educated in liberal Universities. Its a cycle. Even in conservative states.
You should tell that to my rural Republican-voting relatives.
What are they still operating with antennas on their roofs getting just a couple of channels?

Why should taxpayers pay just so you can watch without advertisements? That's a nice perk, but its not worth my tax dollars.

Providing television programing to families who can only afford over-the-air programing seems like a worth investment. Families who may appreciate not exposing their children to marketing America....

President Trump will not be in office after 2028, and a new president will succeed him. This could be either a Republican or Democrat who may disagree with President Trump's policies. The new president might use executive orders to reverse Trump's work. Then, four years later, another Republican aligned with Trump could come into office and re-establish his policies. Are Americans swinging from one political extreme to another every four years?

We need compromise and centrist policies that both sides can accept.

I dont think its is. If you dont want your kids being exposed to advertisements then dont let them watch TV. This sounds like a very lame reason and maybe .00000000001 percent of Americans only let their kids watch PBS.

Between 3-4% Of Americans only watch over the air TV. And they aren't doing it just to watch PBS. We dont need to pay for that.

You mean promoting and exposing minor children To woke drag queen story time on my tax paying dollars, the very reason why President Trump is moving to defund PBS

Drag Queen Story Hour offers a different kind of page-turner
Jul 2, 2019

Children’s story hours are intended to instill a love of reading in young kids. But one reading program also seeks to spread messages about self-love, acceptance of others and appreciation of diversity: Drag Queen Story Hour, a national organization that runs programs in Washington, D.C.’s Adams Morgan and cities across the country. Julia Griffin reports.

For 2025, Congress appropriated $535 million to CPB. That's less than 1/100th of a percent out of the total federal budget. It costs, on average, per American, a little over $1.50 a year. Most of those funds are distributed to some 1,500 local stations nationwide, which produce shows themselves and pay NPR and PBS for the rights to Air National shows.

$1.50 a year....
