  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Pope Francis has died at 88.

Wow. I'm not a Catholic or anything but I found it pretty miraculous he recovered from that Bronchitis that kept him laid up in the Hospital for so long. I didn't think he was going to make it out of there. But he made it out, was discharged, was making public appearances and did a service for Easter.. then passes away the next day.

When people are sick usually there’s signs that show they will die soon. One of those signs is recovery.

The pope had an amazing day yesterday. It was that last burst of energy before he passed.

You see that a lot with cancer patients.

They have a spurt of energy and then they are gone the next day.

When I worked in a hospital for a couple of years, several nurses shared something remarkable with me. They said that some patients with advanced dementia, the kind where they no longer recognize themselves or others, would suddenly become lucid just hours before passing. In those moments, they would recognize family and friends and even hold full conversations. I never witnessed it personally, so I can’t verify it firsthand, but multiple healthcare professionals I worked with attested to seeing it happen.

I like to think God gave him a burst of energy for Christianity's most celebrated holy day before bringing him home. It's a nice ending to his legacy.

Pope Francis may have left the Church Militant, but lives on through this Easter season because our God and Savior is the ‘Resurrection and the Life’! What a dramatic way to close out his office in year that Catholics, Orthodox, and Protestants celebrated Eastern on the same Sunday!

Rest eternal grant to him, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him.

May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Yes, it's a phenomenon called terminal lucidity. It can occur days or hours before a person dies. It's often confused with recovery by people unfamiliar with the death process.

Age was not a factor mentioned in the OP...that was my point
Ok, and old people who break their hips recover and die shortly after. My mom, at 92, seemed to get better from her dementia and her speech from strokes, and was able to communicate with us normally for a short time, and I thought the Lord had healed her then she was gone.
