Giorgia Meloni does not possess the authority to negotiate a trade agreement with the United States independently. Italy's position is one of 28 member votes within the European Union. The European Union most likely negotiate a trade deal with the USA, which President Trump will present as a significant achievement.

Ultimately, this tariff policy should not have been implemented. President Trump initiated the issue and then changed his stance, leading potentially to a superficial agreement between the US, Europe, and several other countries. He will likely announce this as a success, and his supporters will view it as fulfilling a promise.

2. It took the Trump admin 18 months to renegotiate NAFTA to the USMCA agreement.
3. If there is anything agreed within a 90 window given the claims of negotiating over 70 countries, it won't be much change.

Promises kept means something done. Press conferences are not completed trade deals. Trump et al are not going to hammer out a trade deal with 70 something countries in 90 days. And yes, and again, it took the US 18 months to hammer out a deal with just two countries. Now imagine with 28.
