  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump admin. concedes Maryland man from El Salvador was mistakenly deported/sent to mega prison - shrugs 'nothing can be done' [ETA: oh but it can!]

Suggesting he may have a financial incentive is a conspiracy? Whatever dude.
Conspire: make secret plans jointly to commit an unlawful or harmful act. (of events or circumstances) seem to be working together to bring about a particular result, typically to someone's detriment.

That's what you're saying is taking place.

No one needs a reason to tell the truth. They do however need a reason to fabricate. I think the court system failed to properly follow through in 2019.
Your opinion and it's lack of basis on facts is noted. And the first statement doesn't hold water.

The man is a El Salvadorian citizen who illegally enter the united states and is now back in his country of citizenship. The jagged little pill that people seem unable to swallow is that the United States cannot force a country to deport their own citizens into the United States, and it appears that the President of El Salvador does not wish to release the man anytime soon.

oh I agree, I just mean that this is so agregious refusing to bring him back, that I don't see this going well for trump if he continues to refuse.
I think in about 6 month, everyone will have forgotten about this whole thing and moved onto the next flavor of the week issue.

“If I understand this correctly, the US president has launched a trade war against the world, believes he can force the EU and China to meet his terms, is determined to annex Canada and Greenland, but is powerless before the sovereign might of El Salvador. Is that it?”

A) he was here legally B) if there is evidence trump could just show it, funny he hasn't done either, and has admited they mistakenly deported him.
That pesky little "evidence" thing has already been provided in this thread.

No court found that he was a member of MS13. In 2019, one immigration judge decided to keep him in detention based on a single allegation that he was a member of MS13. A second judge found the allegation lacked credibility. The fact is, if the Trump Administration had evidence that he was a member of MS-13, they would have presented that in criminal court. They have not.
The man admitted he was a gang member and claimed to have come the the united states to "flee the gang life."

...the man was under the jurisdiction of the United States when he was improperly deported and held in a country that is contracted by the US government.
The facts remain the same. Why don't we just go to El Salvador, break him out of prison, and smuggle him back into the united states? I don't think you are grasping the concept that Garcia is an El Salvadorian citizen. Why are liberals so afraid of Trump deporting US citizens to El Salvador while simultaneously calling for El Salvador to deport their own citizens to the US?

Figure out charges? What for? You've deported them at that point, it's El Salvador's problem.
I agree with this statement. Being charged with illegal entry should be enough to deport and make it El Salvador's problem.

In this case it wouldn't be deportation, because Garcia is from El Salvador. Therefore I suppose it would be more like extradition. Although President Bukele classifies it as smuggling.

He has no reason to tell the truth either. Courts in the USA found no evidence of such claims, that's why he was allowed to stay. But I guess lack of evidence isn't a problem for you. Let God sort them out and such and such?
I already provided that pesky little evidence that says otherwise.

You tell me. I mean what's the conspiracy theory that negates the simple explanation that he was just one of many MS13 members here illegally?
No conspiracy theories. I just think the guy who looks like the devil and runs a giant super prison El Salvador probably isn’t the good guy here either. I have no idea if this dude they sent, most likely to his death, is former ms-13 or not. Do you know it for a fact or are you going off what the guy with the super prison is saying about him or Trump who now likely wants to save face in all of this?

Because that's totally unnecessary. If Trump ask him to return Garcia, who by the government's own admission was sent by mistake, President Bukele would comply.

I don't think you are grasping the concept that Garcia is an El Salvadorian citizen.

Of course he's a citizen of El Salvador. But he violated the laws of the United States when he entered illegally. He was processed in 2019 by US immigration. A judge placed a stay on his deportation based on his reasonable fear that his life would be in danger if he returned to El Salvador. The cruel irony is now he's imprisoned with Salvador's worst....and likely fearing for his life.

But what do you care?

I know a cheaper way than a deportation flight and kickbacks to the El Salvadorian government. It used to cost $0.19 but the inflation heaped upon us by Biden raised the cost to $0.40. We could do it on 5th Avenue and no one would care.

I just think it is hilarious that the same people who are afraid of Trump forcing U.S. citizens to other countries are calling for forcing another country to send their citizens here. You can't make this up.

It seems you fell for the performance at the White House yesterday.
