Because a lot of international trade and the construction of video game software at least partially runs through the USA between the part producing countries and germany.

I'm not sure if this is what has increased GPU prices directly. Perhaps traders just use the threat of possible tarriff price hikes to increase their margins while fleecing the FOMO buyers that want to get in early in front of the tarriffs.

You know. Capitalism.

Fact is, the graphics card I got for under 800 euros now is at almost 1600 euros.

If I had an 800 euro graphics card, I wouldn't be posting here.

If anyone wants to silence me with a non tax deductible gift, feel free to contact my publicist.

With the current price hike in graphics cards, there is a good chance that you too now own a 800 euro GPU.

I haven’t heard of software being impacted yet.

Yes, there has been a significant price hike in graphics cards, particularly for newer models like the RTX 5000 series. This is due to a combination of factors, including high demand, supply chain disruptions, and semiconductor shortages, which have resulted in limited availability and increased prices, says Viperatech.

But please, let’s place the full blame on tariffs.

I'll be surprised if anyone says "yes."
You can consider non-economic factors.
You may consider that issues like gun ownership, ending abortion, or deporting immigrants are worth economic pain to you. If so, please comment.
I don't think anyone who voted with the cultural issues in mind (like gun ownership, ending abortion, deporting immigrants, undoing DEI, etc) ever dreamed he would cause the cost of living to escalate so dramatically. That is why I think most reasonable Trump supporters will be turning against him. We have not even felt the impact yet and it will be devastating for most people.

No difference, if i had been completely in the dark about the election and who was elected. I would not be able to tell if a republican or democrat was in office.

My 401k and Roth are down some, but that has happened quite a few times before.

Government and politics is just a shell game that you can not win against, either way you are still going to be lied to and taxed on basically everything you do.

Absolutely yes.

Safer with the border finally under control

Safer with the proactive measures removing gang member and illegal aliens.

Financially my day to day has not changed, eggs are lower, groceries seem the same. Basic necessities of life have not changed.

I don’t judge my 401k because it changes day to day and I have been through a number of volatile markets. This being one of them.

Bring middle class we benefited really well with the last tax cuts and I can hardly wait to see the next ones.

Common sense has returned,
Amen, brother!

You are smarter than most about finances. I wish young people and old people would look into this stuff. People need to learn to protect their wealth.

Thus, the reason to hedge is to protect yourself. I also did what T did. With volatility, it's smart to manage your money actively.
Thanks, I should say its not easy, though I read the WSJ and watch CNBC some for years, when I try new things I almost always have some hiccups with some serious losses. Other than futures, I don't have much left to try. For options only covered calls or in a down market spreads seem to work for best for me. Would have been better to just put everything in gold the last year but that is not diversification making it a scary proposition.

It rained today. Why is Trump doing this to us? What have we done? Hater.
With the hundreds of other human rights violations, economic disasters, broken treaties, threats to lawyers and judges, illegal immoral deportations, alliances with Putin, etc. we have no need to invent reasons to "hate" Trump policies.
I don't hate Trump. I look at him as mentally and spiritually sick. I find myself angrier at voters who seemingly would not notice a bus ready to run them down till they felt the hood run them over.

While I don't think your statement is inaccurate, I'm finding it harder and harder to excuse this lack of foresight. I say that as someone who genuinely tries to keep the most panicky, pearl-clutchy voices at arm's length and take a measured view of things, acknowledging that my own "side" is hardly perfect in a lot of areas. But anybody who's paid attention at all has seen that he's been telegraphing a position of severe tariffs for a long time. We've seen that he's become more determined to surround himself with loyalists, sycophants, and quacks rather than "establishment elites" who might try to act as "the adults in the room." We've seen that he's become more overt in his fraud, corruption, and pursuit of revenge. We've seen him pandering to bigots and despots. We've seen how fragile the national and world economies are when certain things get upended. And I have to wonder how some of these folks think the world works that a person with such a careless, selfish, and fact-free approach towards things wouldn't potentially cause a ton of damage.

Mostly, I blame public figures on the right who've led their audiences astray in their pursuit of wealth and power, but the folks in those audiences are not without blame, either.

You are to fatalistic for me. We have choices. Often not good. but sometimes disastrous.
