  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know some contended that the Trump Administration would surely undo things if it were found to be illegal or in error, and others that sending 'TdA' to El Salvador was an invincible PR coup for the president.

Trump administration concedes Maryland father from El Salvador was mistakenly deported and sent to mega prison

The Trump administration conceded in a court filing Monday that it mistakenly deported a Maryland father to El Salvador “because of an administrative error” and argued it could not return him because he’s now in Salvadoran custody.

The filing stems from a lawsuit over the removal of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national who in 2019 was granted protected status by an immigration judge, prohibiting the federal government from sending him to El Salvador.

The filing, first reported by The Atlantic, appears to mark the first time the administration has admitted an error related to its recent deportation flights to El Salvador, which are now at the center of a fraught legal battle.

“On March 15, although ICE was aware of his protection from removal to El Salvador, Abrego Garcia was removed to El Salvador because of an administrative error,” the Trump administration filing states.
I don't believe this was an accident at all. And I don't believe they care about this man at all. This is the America , that they want. From what I'm getting.

Surely they can come up with 5 daily bullet points of what they did to facilitate springing this guy from prison.

They certainly could....if their client wanted to....

Their concession is worthless when it does not lead to action to rectify the mistake.

Not sure why you needed to make this statement. The poster was skeptical about the government admitting the mistake. I pointed out they did.

The question about if they are doing anything about it is a separate question all together. I fully support them doing all they can to rectify the mistake and have said so more than once.

...and have done nothing since to correct their mistake....like any adult with any sense of ethics would do.

Holy smokes, are you guys not paying any attention? I'm tired of pointing this out now. I hope everyone is actually reading my post.

The poster was skeptical about the government admitting the mistake. I pointed out they have that's it. The poster was incorrect in believing they hadn't.

The question about the governement doing something about it is a completely separate issue. And I have noted more than once that they should. It should not take a court to tell them they had to. As soon as they realized the error they SHOULD have worked to bring the guy back. Period.

Please, I sincerely hope no one else makes the same type of comment you and others have made from my post. Cause I'm not going to repeat myself again.

Trump administration contends it has no duty to return illegally deported man to US

Justice Department lawyers told a federal judge that they don’t interpret the Supreme Court’s Thursday ruling — that the administration “facilitate” Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s release — as obligating the administration to do anything more than adjust his immigration status to admit him if El Salvador’s government chooses to release him.

The administration’s position suggests officials do not view the Supreme Court’s order as compelling them to seek Abrego Garcia’s return.

Sunday’s update from Evan Katz, the assistant director of removal operations for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said the administration had “no updates” for the judge.

C'mon everyone, let's just forgive and forget already.

This sounds like a statement coming from North Korea....

It makes you wonder what act of terrorism they committed in El Salvador.

I mean, other than the US telling them to lock him up.

According to Stephen Miller

Nobody was mistakenly sent to El Salvador. He was ordered deported from this country in 2019. He’s an illegal alien. His home nation is El Salvador. That is where he belongs. When you have a withholding order, to be clear, that is not pause your deportation. In other words, in the worst-case scenario, it means you get deported to another country.
Where is he from? El Salvador. Where is he a resident and citizen of? El Salvador. Is he here illegally? Yes. Does he have a deportation order? Yes.

So if he's to be believed the Govt also guilty of perjury.
