  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump administration won't say where man mistakenly deported to El Salvador is

The Trump administration is declining today to tell a federal judge the whereabouts or status of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the man mistakenly deported to El Salvador last month despite a court order.

“I am asking a very simple question: Where is he?” US District Judge Paula Xinis said at the start of a hearing in Greenbelt, Maryland.

Department of Justice attorney Drew Ensign said he did not have the answer. “I do not have that information provided to me.”
I'd say that I assume he's in El Salvador, but with this government, this seems to optimistic.

I looks like the Supreme Court has ruled that the government must work to bring the man home. I think thats good, if this was a mistake then we should absolutely rectify it. If we can bring prisoners from Russia back here, we can certainly work to bring this guy home.

I suspect he’s dead or seriously injured.

[Judge] Xinis’ new directive requires the daily updates to come from an administration official with “personal knowledge” of efforts to return Abrego Garcia to the United States. But Justice Department officials said they may not be prepared to comply with her demands until at least Monday.

The Salvadoran President is scheduled to meet with Trump in Washington on Monday.....

Surely they can come up with 5 daily bullet points of what they did to facilitate springing this guy from prison.

Judge says Friday hearing in case of mistakenly deported Maryland man will proceed

Judge Xinis had also ordered the Trump administration to file, by 9:30 a.m. ET Friday, a supplemental declaration from an individual with personal knowledge acknowledging the current physical location of Abrego Garcia and what steps the administration will take to facilitate his immediate return.

Attorneys for DOJ requested the deadline for the supplemental declaration be moved to next week, but in her filing the judge moved the deadline back by only two hours.

The Supreme Court said ... "the Government should be prepared to share what it can concerning the steps it has taken and the prospect of further steps."
The judge is on an obvious ego trip, setting deadlines of hours. Totally improper behavior by the judge.

What’s totally improper is deporting someone who never should have been deported in the first place and then making zero effort to rectify the problem the administration created.

He should be deported, the Supreme Court for the time being just wants him out of the El Salvador prison.

SCOTUS backed up the judge - all 9.

I think that failure to respond should result in loss of their licensure.

Arent you paying attention? The OP article.
Their concession is worthless when it does not lead to action to rectify the mistake.
