The Quiet Revival: Gen Z leads rise in church attendance - Church attendance on the rise....

‘The Quiet Revival’: huge increase in young people attending church - Religion Media Centre - "This revival is most evident in Catholicism and Pentecostalism, although the survey reveals a noticeable decline in popularity for the Church of England. Of those in the older Millennials category, 35 per cent say they are Catholic, 11 per cent are Pentecostal and 25 per cent identify as Anglican." - but not the C of E.

I wonder why people want church again?

I could guess, but I do also wonder if they will ask people what is unattractive about the C of E...

While I'm an American and not in the UK, I am a Gen Z Anglican. I can't speak to how similar or different TEC is to the CofE, but I do have reasons for being a non-TEC Anglican. The front matter is the lack of reverence. My church uses the 1662 BCP and KJV. I'd classify the service itself as broad with a tendency to go higher rather than lower. The emphasis and focus of the church is on worship. By contrast, the Episcopal options closest to me seem to be more preoccupied with social justice and social hour. Don't get me wrong, there is absolutely room for those things in a church community. My issue is that those things have taken focus away from worship. The report shows that Roman Catholic and Pentecostal churches saw the largest bumps in attendance. While the liturgies are quite different, I'd imagine the reverence is shared between the two.

In England you could get social justice central, so, so Catholic you would never know it was not Roman unless you asked, or anything in between.

The theologically conservative churches are still part of the main C of E, the social justice gangs are also in, it is down to literally which building you walk into on a Sunday morning.

Very interesting! Part of me wishes it were the same here. I dislike how disjointed it is. ACA, ACC, ACNA, REC, TEC, etc.

A representative of the ultra Anglo Catholic parish St. Magnus the Martyr told me they are seeing some growth.

They basically celebrate a hybrid of the Tridentine mass and the Anglican liturgy, in a mix of Latin and English.

They stream on Facebook but not YouTube.
