Experts are talking about a GLOBAL economic recession because of the speed and viciousness of this betrayal of western economic common sense.

Free trade is not a conspiracy against the working class in America - it's how we all get richer.

Sometimes certain national security areas might need either tariffs or government support. But generally speaking, with most of the market, free trade is best.

I think it's time Trump revealed his grades in his 'economics degree'.

If it's even about economics - and not just a big stick he's threatening the world with so everyone has to 'make a deal' and pledge lifelong support to The Don. But isn't that how the mafia runs - not a mature democracy with generations-old security alliances?

I flipped on the news briefly this morning and they were reporting about how stocks had gone up on the false claims of comments from Kevin Hassett (Director of the president's "National Economic Council" that the tariffs would be suspended for 90 days and then crashed back down when they were shown to be rumors. (The same Kevin Hassett also denied that the President was trying to deliberately crash the market on Sunday.)

Then while I was watching Trump posted this:

There's already a thread on Canada going back and forth with the US. This thread is for any tariffs involving the US: Canada, Mexico, EU, Japan, wherever.

Europe has responded to Trump's steel tariffs with a 50% tariff tariff on American whiskey.

And now Trump is considering a tariff tariff tariff due to the tariff tariff.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump slammed the E.U. as “one of the most hostile and abusive taxing and tariffing authorities in the World, which was formed for the sole purpose of taking advantage of the United States.” He called the proposed tariff on American whiskey, an industry that is already facing a slowdown in the U.S. market, “nasty.”

“If this Tariff is not removed immediately, the U.S. will shortly place a 200% Tariff on all WINES, CHAMPAGNES, & ALCOHOLIC PRODUCTS COMING OUT OF FRANCE AND OTHER E.U. REPRESENTED COUNTRIES,” Trump wrote.

Maybe he can rename the Champagne region of France to be Swillsville.

The goal of the tariff is to get the manufacturers to move some of their work back here. We cannot continue to outsource the country NAFTA style. A few people working cannot sustain supporting all the people who don't work here. Mercantilism simply does not work.
